Instead of doing month-by-month reviews, I will be doing yearly reviews.

1901- Year in Review

The Detroit Tigers 1901 season was filled with ups and downs. In May, they were in 1st place. Unfortunately their final record was 73-67 (.521)--- good enough for 3rd place. Leading the way was Kid Elberfeld with a .332 AVG and Jack Cronin with a 19-15 record, 2.66 ERA, and 127 strikeouts. Other news around the league is the 78-63 Baltimore Orioles and the 95-45 Pittsburgh Pirates are in the World Series this year. Also, Nap Lajoie wins the Triple Crown with a .394 AVG, 14 HR, and 116 RBI.

1902- Hopefully, the Detroit Tigers 1902 season will be better than the first. Detroit fans really want to see a championship in their hometown. Leading the way will be Jack Cronin, winner of both the Outstanding Pitcher Award and Newcomer of the Year and Jimmy Barrett, a 5 star player.

What kind of settings are you using? I.e., are rookies placed on their historical teams or drafted, are you actually controlling the Tigers, will there be historical rule changes (i.e. free agency in the 70s), etc.?

Regardless, I'm a big Tigers fan, so I'll definitely be following!

I use the default settings. So, rookies are going to be drafted. Yes, I am using the Tigers, but in commissioner mode so I don't get fired. There are going to be rule changes. The splitting of divisions, wildcards, etc. I think free agency is intact, so that will not change. Tigers fans rejoice!

1902- Season In Review
Unfortunately, the Tigers 1902 season was worst than the first. They finished 54-86 good enough for last place. The bright spots for Detroit this year were Jimmy Barrett with a .322 AVG and 66 RBI, and Jack Cronin who went 15-18 with a 2.47 ERA and 107 strikeouts. In other news, the Brooklyn Superbas and the St. Louis Browns are in the World Series.

In the World Series, the St. Louis Browns won over the Brooklyn Superbas, 4-2. Also, the award winners were announced today: Outstanding Hitter Award: Nap Lajoie (AL), Charlie Hickman (NL). Outstanding Pitcher Award: Addie Joss (AL), Noodles Hahn (NL). Newcomer of the Year Award: Eddie Plank (AL), Bob Wicker (NL). (Remember, the "Gold Glove" Award was vacated by commissioner Jim Smith.) The Tigers go into the offseason hoping to rebuild and have a better overall season than 1902.

1903 Preview- The Tigers hope to be in contention this year and go to the playoffs. Leading the way (hopefully) will be 3 star Ed Siever and 4 star closer Ed High on the pitching side and 4 1/2 star Kid Elberfeld and 5 star Jimmy Barrett on the hitting side.

1904- Is there an end in sight?
The Detroit Tigers hope to not continue their losing ways. They are predicted to go 53-101, but they hope to prove that stat wrong. 1904, a better year in sight.

1904- The 1904 season almost went as planned. The Tigers finished 56-98, not at all what the Tigers wanted. Obviously, no playoffs for the Tigers this year. However, the Pittsburgh Pirates and the New York Highlanders are in the World Series this year.

1905- More Dissapointment
The Tigers are starting to look like the Pirates and the Nationals from past years. They were projected to go 49-105! Now, the Tigers can't be that bad, can they? The answer is they topped that projection, to 47-107! Two games worse than projected! The only bright spots this year were Branch Rickey (yeah, that Branch Rickey) who hit .299, the best on the team, and Ed Siever, who had a team low 2.55 ERA. In MLB news, the St. Louis Browns and the Pittsburgh Pirates are in the World Series.
