![]() MAY 1 Toronto's 6-1 loss to Oakland Toronto's offense did what it could to overcome a shaky start for starter Dana Eveland, but Oakland lefty Gio Gonzalez was too strong. MAY 2 Shaun Marcum had been waiting a long time to find the win column again for the Blue Jays -- 598 days to be exact. That drought is over. Toronto's offense only got 5 hits but it was good to propel Marcum to a 2-0 win over Oakland at the Rogers Centre -- his first win since Sept. 11, 2008. "It doesn't seem like it's been that long," said Marcum, who missed the entire 2009 season recovering from Tommy John surgery on his right elbow. |

MAY 5
CLEVELAND -- The remnants of Adam Lind's 0-for-19 slump were tailing off the fastball he knocked for the game winning double. Jason Frasor went the last 1 inning, earning the save. "I'm happy for him," Gaston said. "That'll get him back, get him rolling, back to where he was before." |

![]() MAY 6 "We've played pretty good," Blue Jays manager Cito Gaston said. "These guys have been playing hard all year. We've been in every game that we've played but two all year. I would say that's been real good for us." MAY 7 "The guys never quit. They just kept battling," Blue Jays manager Cito Gaston said. "That's what you call a team win. Our guys in the bullpen came in and did a good job, and of course, we had some big hits from a lot of guys." Last edited by canadianman29; 02-22-2012 at 07:44 AM. |

![]() MAY 10 There was really only one thing for Brandon Morrow to say following his forgettable performance against the Red Sox, "That's an embarrassing start," Morrow said. MAY 11 Dana Eveland has struggled a little against Boston over his career. Five starts: 16 1/3 innings, 31 earned runs, 35 hits, 15 walks. This game he gave up 5 runs. Worth noting is the fact that Eveland has never lasted five innings in an outing against the Sox. "I had a little bit of bad luck today and I also didn't throw the ball very well," Eveland said. "It was just a combination of that and falling behind in too many counts." Obviously, there was not a whole lot of positives in this latest loss. MAY 12 Travis Snider continues to pull himself out of his early-season slump. That was a big storyline within this 10-game road trip for the Jays. While Aaron Hill and Adam Lind have struggled, Snider has been picking up some of the slack. |

![]() MAY 13 Kansas City Royals Fire Manager Trey Hillman When in doubt, fire the manager. For the most part, it’s been a case of rearranging deckchairs on the Titanic, but after losing 14 of 20, the Kansas City Royals fired manager Trey Hillman and replaced him with Ned Yost, who had served as special advisor to baseball operations for the club. In 358 games over 2 plus seasons, Hillman went 151-207 (.422 winning percentage), finishing no better than 4th in the last two complete seasons |

![]() MAY 17 Jays' Snider placed on DL with wrist sprain The Blue Jays placed outfielder Travis Snider on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained right wrist. Snider will be eligible to be activated on May 30. TORONTO An abbreviated outing from left-hander Dana Eveland did not help the Jays' cause, bringing the club's modest winning streak to a halt. "It was bad luck," said Eveland, providing a fitting summation of the loss. "That's about all you can chalk it up to." MAY 18 TORONTO Marcum spun seven solid innings during an 2-1 win over the Twins at the Rogers Centre. Toronto's offense provided a great support, but Marcum's steady showing led the way. "He's got a good fastball," Twins second baseman Orlando Hudson said, "a good running fastball, a good sinking fastball, he threw his fastball in, threw his fastball out, and got great deception with his changeup. For a young guy, he knows what he's doing." Encarnacion back in Jays' lineup Edwin Encarnacion returned to the Blue Jays' clubhouse, confident that his injury woes are behind him and itching to get back on the field. Jays gear up for first Draft of Anthopoulos era Alex Anthopoulos has been on the move non-stop since taking over as Toronto's front office leader at the end of last season, and lately he has been moving even faster as the First-Year Player Draft looms. |

![]() MAY 19 Toronto Blue Jays optioned Marc Rzepczynski to Las Vegas 51s. Toronto Blue Jays released 1B Randy Ruiz. Toronto Blue Jays recalled LF Jeremy Reed from Las Vegas 51s. -- SEATTLE A strong outing from starter Brett Cecil, timely hitting and a solid effort from the bullpen were just enough to scratch out a 6-3 win against the Mariners at Safeco Field. The Jays had just two threatening innings on offense, but that was all Cecil needed. "After my last outing, I knew I had to be more aggressive, and I definitely was tonight," Cecil said. |
