MLB Replay....A new History
I've never done a full replay of the MLB before, and i have the urge to do one. I'm afraid of not getting fully invested in the league by just watching it, and getting bored only to forget about it.
That's why I'm gonna do a dynasty. I love the logo and uni sets available, I like screwing around with graphic and photoshop type stuff, and I figured I'll enjoy this. So, I'm using the Sprite/Gambo database (i think that's what it's called) which I believe allows players to enter the league around 18. I'm starting in 1901. Players will enter the league via draft at the end of each season. I assigned each team 1 AAA team. I chose real teams from the American Association and the International league. No free agency until it started in real life. Not sure exactly when that is, but not for a while! I'll be the commish, so no interfering unless a career ending injury occurs. I'll probably edit those down to 2-3 years. I'll try to develop and follow storylines, record breakers, great players, great teams, players we all know, and just the general stuff that makes baseball great. 1901 American League Predictions According to OSA, the Boston Americans are the favs to represent the AL in the first annual World Series. They are predicting a .453 batting average from A's star Nap Lajoie. While he is truly a superstar, a .453 batting average might be just a tad optimistic. Real life Nap Lajoie had a career year in 1901Last edited by George_Bell; 10-01-2015 at 09:23 AM. |

1901 National League Predictions Over in the National League, OSA thinks the Pirates have the inside route to play in the first World Series. I agree. That Pittsburgh team is just stacked. They got great pitching, they have the great Honus Wagner. It will be a big upset if they don't finish with baseball's best record. I believe they are the favourites to win the whole thing. 1901 Top Players
The top position player in baseball is Honus Wagner. The leader of the Pirates, Wagner is coming off a season where he hit .381, with 200 hits, 100 rbi's, 100 runs and 38 stolen bases. The Flying Dutchman can also play 5 positions, giving the Pirates great flexibility within their lineup. The legendary Cy Young is OSA's choice as top pitcher in Baseball. He's now 33, and had a down 1900. Down for Mr. Young means a 19-19 record, while posting a 3.00 era. This will be his first season in Boston after Young and many of his National League teammates joined the junior circuit in their first year as a Major League. 1901 Regular Season
10 trades were made during the 01 season, non of them really worth mentioning though. The pennant races were pretty much non existent with the Boston Americans running away with the AL, while the Pittsburgh Pirates, my world series pick, were not able to stay close to the new National League champions, the Philadelphia Phillies. The biggest story occurred on Sep 17th. Cy Young had just pitched a complete game, 4 hit shutout of the Cleveland Blues. Boston had already clinched first place, but Young, after winning his 24th game of the season was ruled to have strained an oblique muscle. The diagnoses meant he would miss 2 months, and the World Series! Nap Lajoie enjoyed an unbelievable season for the Athletics. He sets a new MLB record hitting .440 on the season. Technically, Lajoie hit .4399, which is just enough to eclipse the .4397 that Hugh Duffy managed in 1894. The MVP favourite Lajoie also lead the AL in home runs, with easily a career high 18. In the NL, Ed Delahanty was the main reason for the Phillies dominance. There was speculation that he was done, on the downside of his career. He proved everyone wrong becoming the favoutire for NL MVP. Click here to read about his mysterious real life death just 2 years later in 1903. Last edited by George_Bell; 10-01-2015 at 09:29 AM. |

The Phillies have the better pitching staff lead by Doc White and Al Orth, who combined to 45 games. White is a leading candidate for the NL Cy Young. Elmer Flick, Philly RF will miss the series due to a strained hamstring. The #1 offense in baseball should be able to make up for it. American's right fielder Buck Freeman needs a herculean effort, which he delivered in the regular season. 14 Home runs, 135 RBI's and a .346 batting average. Game 7
De facto ace Ted Lewis throws for Boston, while Phillies ace Doc White responds for the home team. Lewis lost game 1 to Doc White, but defeated him in game 4. The game turned into a pitchers duel. No scoring through 5. Nothing through 6. Zeroes through 7. Then in the top of the eighth inning, Ted Lewis, starting pitcher, gets a 2 out, RBI single giving the Americans a 1-0 lead. They scored another and lead 2-0 heading into the bottom of the ninth inning. Klondike Douglass and Ed Dalahany both singled off Lewis to open the inning. Harvey Wolverton followed with a sac fly to cut the lead to just 1. Ed McFarland singled on the next pitch, and the tying run was in scoring position, with just 1 out. Ted Lewis got Harry Bay to fly out, and the Phillies were down to their final out. Jack Dunn came to the plate. He was a part time outfielder, who at 29, received the 1st substantial playing time of his career, appearing in 73 games. His batting average, a paltry .213. Dunn would be no hero today. He grounded out, and the Boston Americans won their first world title! Last edited by George_Bell; 10-01-2015 at 09:34 AM. |

1901 Award Winners
No real surprises here based on how the season went. Doc White has a chance to be something very special. Last edited by George_Bell; 10-01-2015 at 09:35 AM. |

1901 MLB Amateur Draft
80 players were drafted in the Majors this year. No huge names were available. The best known name taken was probably Johnny Evers, who went to Milwaukee tenth overall. Here are the results of round 1. And here is a look at #1 overall pick, pitcher Ham Iburg, who I have never heard of, taken by the Cleveland Blues Last edited by George_Bell; 10-01-2015 at 09:36 AM. |

Offseason news and notes 1901-02 Jack Powell, a starting pitcher with the St. Louis Cardinals tore his Labrum in September. Powell was having a strong season, going 16-15, with a 2.60 era, and a WAR of 7.9! Powell suffered a set back rehabbing in January and announced his retirement. At age 27, Powell will be edited. His career is not over, he has 527 days left on his injury now, and at that time, he will attempt a comeback… Ed Delahanty decided to spend his winter Hollywood. Here's a report on his activities
The new Logos and Uniforms for 1902 The Milwaukee Brewers relocated toSt. Louis, and will now be known as the Browns. The Cleveland Blues have changed their name to the Broncos. Last edited by George_Bell; 07-30-2016 at 10:44 AM. |

1902 AL Predictions
The Browns open play in their new city with the pressure of being the favourites in the American League. The rotation is clearly getting OSA excited. They predict Dowling and Reidy will win a combined 48 games. I like the Athletics here. Nap Lajoie, coming off an all-time amazing season, is capable of taking his team to the promise land. 1902 National League Predictions OSA thinks the Phillies will be heading back to the World Series, by the slimmest of margins over the Pirates. With a healthy Elmer Flick, I expect them to be in the discussion, but can Delahanty fight father time, and produce another fine season? I’m thinking Pittsburgh again. Honus Wagner is entering his prime, and the Pirates looked stacked at every position.

1902 Top Players When you hit .440, you’re the best player in baseball. Nap Lajoie is OSA’s obvious choice. Look at those ratings. 20 contact and 20 gap. Who knows how long they will stay there, but right now, that’s special. Top Pitcher 22 year old Noodles Hahn was upset by Rube Waddell in last season’s pitcher of the year race. Hahn may have been robbed. Noodles posted an amazing 15.0 WAR last year. 22-13, with a 1.94 era. Last edited by George_Bell; 07-30-2016 at 10:47 AM. |
