A Fun Adjusted Dynasty Before 15

Since I am getting OOTP 15 I decided to have one last fling, and of my old games, OOTP12's ML quickstart is my fav. So here is one last game.

The problem I have had with dynasty stories on the forums, is using major league team names. I like to bring in historical players, adjusted in their totals, but wind up having problems how to assure that Ichiro plays for Seattle, Aaron for the Braves, Gehrig for the Yankees ect. Usually frustration sets in and I just give up.

I learned recently the trick for me was to use non-major league team names, and no longer was their a need to force players anywhere.

So i am beginning the 2011 quickstart. All major league teams have been changed to NFL team names.
The schedule is 168 games (to have a few more to set records). Injury is on low.

I will begin bringing in the best players in history in 2015, backwards (ie a new Derek jeter comes in 2015, while Gehrig Ruth and Cobb will be 50 years in the future. I am doing this rather than have them go natural time as usual, then Ruth and Cobb's years are done early. This way I have something to look forward to as the game progresses). Some modern players are redone, most are not.

Famous major league managers will also be brought in, some current ones like Tony LArussa, start the game much younger.

Totals for ML players will be adjusted (as if they all played in the modern MLB) not neutralized, thus the stats become much better- and more in line with the fictional players that will appear

2 sets of minors. Increased league hitting totals, 43300 hits and 5200 Hr per year.

In 2 15 team leagues, no divisions. 4 from each make playoffs, all best of 7 series. Team that finishes first gets some special first round bonuses to give them a great chance to win round 1. Of course the two champions play for the Super Bowl.

No DH in either league, an interleague play of at least 3 games vs every team.
Injuries on low. Development modifiers as expected for OOTP 12, REAL ML stars will be tracked to stay close to their expected ratings.

A few markets have gone up or down a point or two to more relect their NFL counterpart.

Guess that is it for now. Here is a list of the 30 teams and thier ML starter after the dash. I have chosen to GM the mid-market and team of potential Pittsburgh Steelers

ARIZONA CARDS- Milwaukee Brewers

SAN DIEGO CHARGERS- SD Padres
SAN FRANCISCO 49'ers- Detroit Tigers
SEATTLE SEAHAWKS- Arizona Dbacks

I will give a short history to 2014, then will go in more detail starting in 2015 with the real players entering the draft. Starting that year, then every 6 after that I will have a basic overview of all teams, as well as an update of league historical and single season records.

PS in the year reports, awards abbreviations stand for. -MVP (most valuable player, must be a batter), SS (silver slugger, next best hitter), CY (Cy Young award), NB (next best pitcher), PO (playoff MVP, with key playoff stats), MGR (manager of the year)

Miami Dolphins (Joe Torre) defeat Carolina Panthers (Travis Fryman)

The Miami domination continues. Why? An extremely well rounded team of very good players but not the best, save young pitcher DAve Tailfer who has become at the age of 22 the best pitcher in baseball. Carolina managed to get there thanks to the swing tandem of Mike Moustakas and Eric Hosmer. Another young swing pair is in Pittsburgh where Janveau-Mick combined for 96 home runs between them for the Steelers.

Meanwhile Albert Pujols was simply a power .326, 57 homers, 156 rbi, the player of the year.

Kansas City and their stacked team were the disappointment, not making
the AFC playoff, while Bobby Cox's Cleveland Browns were again not making the Super Bowl though with also a stacked club. The NFC teams look like they will have to make a plunge in free agency to try and keep up.

Down in the minors: Derek Jeter batted .306, Vlad Gurrerro .322 (27HR) in A ball, John Smoltz was a 3.30 ERA in A and AA.

AWARDS

MVP Albert Pujols (NE), Rich Hennigar (GB)

NB Clayton Kershaw (KC), Dan White (SF)

It was a steel year. The big hitting from the big 3- Mick, Wallace and Janveau, combined with good starting pitching took them the way to the Super Bowl win.

It was a year where youth took center stage, Howard Mick, Rich Hennigar and Bryce Harper became standouts in the league, whle also young Mike Stanton hit 51 home runs and Mike Moustakas continued his stand out play in the AFC.

Meanwhile 38 year old Barry Zito went 22-5 for Carolina, earning the Next Best award

Pittsburgh Steelers (Doug Harvey) defeat San Francisco 49'ers (Ralph Smith)

It was a steel year #2. The big hitting continued, ranking 1 or 2 in most every offensive category in the AFC. However Pittsburgh is reaching its salary ceiling as its young players are getting much more in arbitration- one of its better players will likely not be resigned.

San Fran made it to the Super Bowl thanks to the amazing year from starter Dave White (who set the single season win mark with 24).
Both hitting award winners came from the giants- Mike Trout and Miguel Cabrera (who set the new single season record with 167 RBI)

Cincinnati Bengals (Bruce Bochy) defeat San Francisco 49'ers (Ralph Smith)

Again an AFC team takes the Super Bowl, this time Cincinnati, who had been close for years but finally took the crown with playoff help from stars Bryce Harper and Hal Kellam and Steven Stasburg- yet it was another pitcher- Brian Matusz that stole the playoff show with a 5-0 record and 0.77ERA.

Evan Longoria looked be on his way to a 60+ home run season, then went into a major slump starting in August and finished with just 45, but with his 162 RBI easily the MVO. The star pitcher was Oakland's Felix Hernandez and his 24 wins.
