Adopt a Prospect

I did this a few years ago, and it seemed very popular, so I'm going to redo it.
Here is the old thread
http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...-prospect.html

Entering the 2014 season, I want people to 'create a prospect' and I will post how your player is doing as their career progresses.

Here is what you need to tell me

Name:
Nickname: Not necessary, but if you want one
High School or College, and birthday (don't need year, just month and date)
Note - college players will have slightly higher current ratings (10%), but could have less potential (-2%)
Hometown (needs to be a real place):
Uniform Number:
Personality Attribute, pick 1-200 in each of the following, totals equal up to 600 combined:
Leadership:
Desire for Winner:
Loyalty:
Greed:
Work Ethic:
Intelligence:

Height:
Weight:
Bats :R/L/S
Throws: R/L
Position/Role (if you pick a position player, select a primary, and then two secondary positions):

For injury possibilities, I do a dice roll, so pick a number 1-6. If your number is rolled, then you will get 1's all across the board. If you are one off from the number, then you will get 40's across the board, if you are two off from the number, you will get 80's across the board, if you are three off, you will get 120's across the board, if you are four off, you will get 160's across the board, and if you are five off, you will get 200's in every thing. So it's clearly better to pick a number in the middle (unless you are feeling risky) so you minimize the chance of you having a high injury risk.

Do you prefer to be a position player or pitcher?
If you choose a position player, then select from the following:

You may have potential ratings that total combined, up to 575 if you are a high schooler or 555 if a college player, ratings are 1-250 (1 min, 250 max):

BABIP:
Avoid K's:
Gap:
Power:
Eye/Patience:

And you must select current ratings, if in high school, will combine for a total of 200 current attribute points in each of the same selections as above, and 250 if in college:

BABIP:
Avoid K's:
Gap:
Power:
Eye/Patience:

Example would be as follows (high schooler):

Current/potential
BABIP: 50/125
Avoid K's: 30/85
Gap: 50/125
Power: 30/105
Eye/Patience: 40/105

You can roll a dice for defense and speed ratings
For speed possibilities, I do a dice roll, so pick a number 1-6. If your number is rolled, then you will get 200's all across the board. If you are one off from the number, then you will get 160's across the board, if you are two off from the number, you will get 120's across the board, if you are three off, you will get 80's across the board, if you are four off, you will get 40's across the board, and if you are five off, you will get 0's in every thing. So it's clearly better to pick a number in the middle (unless you are feeling risky) so you minimize the chance of you having a high injury risk.

Do the exact same thing for defense

If you select a pitcher:
You get 3 pitches, pick those 3 pitches, one of them MUST be a fastball/sinker/cutter or knuckleball:

Say those three pitches, your choices are:
fastball
sinker
cutter
curveball
slider
changeup
splitter
forkball
circle change
screwball
knucklecurve
knuckleball

Then select a current/potential rating for each pitch that you select, and for movement and control as well:
If you are a high schooler, max potential has to be a combined 725 potential, or, if you are a college pitcher, a combined 700 for a college pitcher, and current ratings for a high schooler are 275 current, and if you are in college, it is 325

So an example would be:

Fastball: 50/160
Curveball: 50/135
Changeup: 50/135
Movement: 75/175
Control: 50/135

I'll give a monthly update, and posters will get to decide where they go as free agents, and when they retire.

Below, please follow the following formats

I am selecting a shortstop for myself

Here is the format I want you to post in your reply to this thread

I would love to participate, but I need a day or so to think about what I want.

If that's cool, thanks.

I want to have about 10 players, so I am taking the first 10 I get (assuming I get a good mix of pitchers and position players)

Ideally, I get at least one catcher, and 3 or 4 pitchers.

So we have five players, that means I'll take 5 more before I begin.

Would like at least two more pitchers if we can.

It helps if you sign up, if you believe you will keep up with the thread, because you will have some interactions, such as which free agent offer to accept and some of the player desc. If I can't get a hold of you, then choices are just made for hou

Entering the 2014 season, I want people to 'create a prospect' and I will post how your player is doing as their career progresses.

Here is what you need to tell me

Name: Dean Caughlin
Nickname: Beer Can
High School or College, and birthday (don't need year, just month and date) College 9/16/95 college is BC
Note - college players will have slightly higher current ratings (10%), but could have less potential (-2%)
Hometown (needs to be a real place): Kingston Jamiaca
Uniform Number: 99
Personality Attribute, pick 1-200 in each of the following, totals equal up to 600 combined:
Leadership: 200
Desire for Winner:99
Loyalty:100
Greed:1
Work Ethic:100
Intelligence:100

Height: 6'11
Weight: 230
Bats :R/L/S L
Throws: R/L L
Position/Role (if you pick a position player, select a primary, and then two secondary positions):
SP

For injury possibilities, I do a dice roll, so pick a number 1-6. If your number is rolled, then you will get 1's all across the board. If you are one off from the number, then you will get 40's across the board, if you are two off from the number, you will get 80's across the board, if you are three off, you will get 120's across the board, if you are four off, you will get 160's across the board, and if you are five off, you will get 200's in every thing. So it's clearly better to pick a number in the middle (unless you are feeling risky) so you minimize the chance of you having a high injury risk.

Gimme a 4

Do you prefer to be a position player or pitcher?
If you choose a position player, then select from the following: PITCHER

3, 5

If you select a pitcher:
You get 3 pitches, pick those 3 pitches, one of them MUST be a fastball/sinker/cutter or knuckleball:

Say those three pitches, your choices are:
fastball 50/100
curveball 75/200
circle change 100/150
Movement: 50/150
Control: 50/100

Then select a current/potential rating for each pitch that you select, and for movement and control as well:
If you are a high schooler, max potential has to be a combined 725 potential, or, if you are a college pitcher, a combined 700 for a college pitcher, and current ratings for a high schooler are 275 current, and if you are in college, it is 325

So an example would be:

Fastball: 50/160
Curveball: 50/135
Changeup: 50/135
Movement: 75/175
Control: 50/135

I'll give a monthly update, and posters will get to decide where they go as free agents, and when they retire.

Looks like I have more than I am needing here.

I am only wanting to carry 10 guys, so I will take the first 10 that posted (assuming I have a good mix of pitchers and hitters).

I will go ahead and move forward making the players.

Dean, unfortunately you are my 11th guy.

So if someone stops responding, or retires, or we finish their careers, you'll be the first new guy to join.
