Double Play Dynasty from a ML quickstart
This dynasty is in honour of Eugene Church and his Tycobbia Ruthlandia dynasty.
I have tried over the last few years to put one of the personal fun leagues I play into the dynasty forum, but had trouble keeping them going. Now I have been following what Eugene did and how he did it, and his style and dedication to it has given me a format and drive to go back and do things differently. So thanks EC- your great dynasty was inspiring to me. It gave me a format to follow that will work for me. This dynasty is mainly designed to go hand in hand with a new thread I will be posting "Adjusted Players." Some know I like to use real life players in fictional worlds, but I don't like the way the potential stats come out from the import feature. Previously I mostly played 12-13, but now with 14-15 the ratings for pitchers are much better, and batters much worse. So I have decided to go through and re-rate the players and use them here. It takes a while to re-adjust them to the new game values. I will use 14 for the dynasty itself, I know it navigation wise better than 15, but as far as I can tell values to rate batters and pitchers are about the same, so my adjusted players can be easily used in games in either version. EDIT The adjusted players can be found in this thread http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...d-players.html Last edited by sprague; 09-25-2014 at 01:38 AM. |

Overview
Basic Dynasty info
MLQS 2013. All in one league (30 teams 2 divisions) playing a 180 game schedule- to get some 50HR 20win players. Stats thus are roughly 10% more than a 162 game season. 3 Levels of minors. That helps to keep the database down, and yet is enough to allow the development engine to work. Extra players (1 star releases) on the less minors were deleted. Draft is 17 rounds long, all players enter as 18 year olds. Injury is on normal. DH is used for all teams (I prefer NL style ball, but the game AI tends to handle DH leagues better) Each year gets a recalc. Total modifiers for the league are AB 165300, H 42500, 2B 8350, 3B 900, HR 5050, W 15300, HBP 1400, K 36000. Stolen base attempts each year is given a +1 boost. Pitcher fatigue is set for .922 after the recalc. 9 teams make the playoffs. The team that finishes first overall gets a special bonus in the first playoff round. Financials are on. Free Agency raised a year to 7. No amateur free agents, draft includes precentages for other baseball countries. 2014 will have an all fictional draft. Really "old" players (pre1885) come in for 2015-16. Then bringing in players from the modern era to the past, who are not still young (Harper, Strasburg, Trout) and have their basic whole career ahead. I will not add every player, just great stars, and players that I like for some reason. Their adjusted stats and ratings will be placed into the new thread coming up in a day or two. *Interestingly though. Instead of bringing in 2 seprate playrs, such as Dan Brothers and Roger Connor, or Dave Kigman and Greg Luzinski- I will combine the player into one for the dynasty, such renamed ROGER BROTHERS and GREG KINGMAN. (the individual players themselves will be fully presented in the ratings thread) The combination is to get more players into the game in fewer seasons, thus make it easier for me to follow. And still give you an idea how the ratings I have given players play out. If Robin Yount and Cal Ripkin combine, indiviually you can gauge Ripkin with a few more homers, yount with a raise in batting average. Thus I am calling the dynasty- DOUBLE PLAY DYNASTY Since we are going backward in time, a few managers (Jim Leyland ect) had 10-15 years taken off their age so they can manage into the "future" Other managers will come in at as the players. Bobby Cox and Tony Larussa first, John Mcgraw and Connie Mack 40-50 years down the road. There is now only one MVP and CY Young winner ect, but I will list the top three finishers and provide the batting and pitching leaderboards. Players "earn" a facegen by leading in a key catagory, winning a major award, or reaching a major milestone- 250 wins, 500 home runs ect. I won't have any specific team, just take over one every so often for a few years cuz they interest me as a challenge. Other years just watch and report on the action. 2013 will get a brief season lookback- as it is basically and out of the box season. The starting in 2014 I will go with more detail. 2014 regular season
TEAMS AL Division BALTIMORE ORIOLES 79-101 Manager- Buck Showalter (2nd season) Nearly last in every pitching catagory, easy to spot the problem for the birds. Chris Davis smacked 44 homers. Manny Machado only played in 33 games. BOSTON RED SOX 96-86 Manager- John Farrell (2nd season) Find a wild card spot as David Ortiz keeps on hitting em out (258, 40, 97) CHICAGO WHITE SOX 77-103 Manager- Robin Ventura (2nd season) Poor showing frm Chiago, 3 main starter sout for long periods, rookie Cuban Jose Abreau hitting "just" 32 homeruns Last in almost every offensive catagory. CLEVELAND INDIANS 86-94 Manager- Terry Francona (2nd season) Terry Francona's squad continued its improvement. Lonnie Chisenhall (297, 33, 128) and CArlos Santana (285, 34, 110) were good. Youngster Trevor Bauer won 12 games with 260 k's DETROIT TIGERS 94-86 Manager- Jim Leyland (2nd season) Super 3 and no playoff? Miguel Cabrera (.303, 50, 131) Prince Fielder (.305, 43, 108) and Henly Ramirez (.299, 37, 109)- but it was the loss of Matt Scherzer that hurt the club with not enough depth beyond Verlander (15 wins) and Fister. HOUSTON ASTROS 81-99 Manager- Bo Porter (2nd season) Starting to get better, building with pitching, will se how the next few years go. KANSAS CITY ROYALS 84-96 Manager- Ned Yost (2nd season) Not much pitching and only Mike Moustakas (.290, 36, 134) hitting doomed them. LOS ANGELES ANGELS 94-86 Manager- Mike Scocscia (2nd season) Wonderboy was his name, Mike Trout (.333, 37, 115) but a late injury to Albert Pujols (29, 111 in 141 games) made it hard on top starters Jared Weaver (8-6) RA Dickey (14-11) and CJ Wilson (18-14) to make to to postseason. MINNESOTA TWINS 85-95 Manager- Ron Gardenheir (2nd season) Minnesota started 1-10, finished much better but stil not much to talk about beyond Joe Maure hitting .326. Justin Morneau may be about done as a top player (.254, 23, 107). They have to hope their big hitting prospects in the minors start to develop soon. NEW YORK YANKEES 102-78 DV Manager- Joe Girardi (2nd season) Division champ rides new find Matashiro Tanaka (2.53, 19, 245), while Robinson Cano (.313, 28, 112) and big Tex (.231, 30, 80) lead the batters. Derek Jeter in probably his last year (.271,2,46) and as well maybe AROD (.204, 6, 21) OAKLAND A'S 87-93 Manager- Bob Melvin (2nd season) A's wind up Coco Crisp being their #3 batter in the lineup. That tells you how this season went. SEATTLE MARINERS 91-89 Manager- Eric Wedge (2nd season) Felix Hernandez missing half the year with an injury ended any Seattle hope of the playoffs. TAMPA BAY RAYS 97-83 PO Manager- Joe Madden (2nd season) Will Myers (.277, 30, 109) had a fine break out season, David Price was good (3.57, 16, 254) and overcame the loss of Evan Longoria most of the year to make the playoffs. TEXAS RANGERS 90-90 Manager- Ron Washington (2nd season) Good seasons from Jurickson Profar (.309, 22, 88) and Adrian Beltre (.283,31, 109) but Yu Darvish injury was tough. TORONTO BLUE JAYS 69-111 Manager- John Gibbons (2nd season) Wow this went bad.In many replays the Blue Jays in 2014 have actually won it all, but here their pitching staff was decimated with injuries or retirements, and they were last in eveyr pitching categoy. Jose Bautista hit 41 home runs but that was about it for them. Just like as may happen in real life AA at GM, and manager John Gibbons kept their jobs. NL DIVISION ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS 87-93 Manager- Kirk Gibson (2nd season) An average season for the Dbacks. Marin Prado led the team with a .304 average, Miguel Montero with 34 homers and Trevor Cahill with a 3.27 and 18win season. ATLANTA BRAVES 102-78 PO manager- Fredi Gonzalez (2nd season) The Braves put together a 102 win season, but more with offense than pitching. Freddie Freeman (319, 35HR 136 RBI), Justin Upton 34 HR, And Simmons and Hanigan hitting over .300 Brandon Beachy missed most of the year due to injury CHICAGO CUBS 88-92 Manager- Mike Goff (1st season) The Cubs are still in rebuilding mode. Matt Garza was fine at 15-17 and 3.45era, Starlin Castro hit .315, but only one Cub hit more than 30 home runs. CINCINNATI REDS 95-86 Manager- Tony Pena (1st season) the Reds just missed the playoffs for new manager Tony Pena. a late season injury to Jay Bruce doing them in. Joey Votto (.322, 42) and Jay Bruce (.300 37) led the way. Billy Hamilton had his second straigh 100+steal year. Phil hughes (who came in a 2013 trade with the Yankees) was the best of a decent starting staff. Aroldis Chapman saved 43 games. COLORADO ROCKIES 110-70 DV Manager- Walt Weiss (2nd season) The Rockies keep chugging atop as baseball's best regular season team- doing it through injuries to last season's MVP Carlos Gonzales (275-25) and former Met David Wright (257-24) They did it with a complete lineup, and decent pitching. It will remain to be seen if the injuries will be a problem for the Rockies in the Playoffs. LOS ANGELES DODGERS 104-76 PO Manager- Don Mattingly (2nd season) Last seasons champs had another fine regular season. Clayton Kershaw (2.55, 19, 301) Zach Grienke (2.93, 19, 231) and Chad Billingsley (18 wins) revealed pitching is a core to success. Adrian Gonzalez was the offense threat (.293,33,114) with Matt Kemp out much of the year injured. MIAMI MARLINS 74-106 Manager- Mike Redmond (2nd season) Average team all around, though Giancarlo Stanton managed 39 home runs in just 122 games played. MIWAUKEE BREWERS 96-84 PO Manager- Jason Camili (1st season) The Brewers were a playoff team thanks to 30+ homers from Ryan Braun and Mark Trumbo, and Yovani Gallardo's 18 win 258K season. MONTREAL EXPOS 99-81 PO Manager- Davy Johnson (2nd season) Bryce Harper was Mr Baseball this year (.322, 39, 136) Jordan Zimmerman won 20 games (2.61, 20, 188) holding the slack of Stephen Strasburg's Mid-season injury) NEW YORK METS 78-102 Manager- Terry Collins (2nd season) Ike Davis led the team with 96 RBI, and no starter was below 4.00 for ERA. Enough said. PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES 79-101 Manager- Charlie Manuel (2nd season-fired) Bad seasons by a number of older players- Ryan Howard hit just .211 34 88. Roy Halladay (2.82, 18, 192) and Cole Hamels (3.88, 14, 214) kept the Phillies around. PITTSBURGH PIRATES 91-89 Manager- Clint Hurdle (2nd season) The Pirates were definitely disappointed with their finish. Andrew McCutchen was stellar (.293, 44, 122) and new free agents Kendrys Morales and Melky Cabrera played well. The young starting staff led my TAllion and Cole were simply average, but they will get better. SAN DIEGO PADRES 93-87 Manager- Bud Black (2nd season) Padres just miss playoffs on a team with no real superstar season. SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS 96-85 PO Manager- Bruce Bochy (2nd season) the Giants squeak into the playoffs after losing Matt Cain for the season. Buster Posey (.318, 26, 106) Pablo Sandoval (271, 30, 124) and Brandon Belt (.286, 30, 130) were the main reasons along with Madison BAumgarner`s (3.11, 18-4, 212). Tim Lincecum had a poor 9-20 season. ST.LOUIS CARDINALS 98-82 PO Manager- Mike Matheny (2nd season) Cardinals in. Cliff Lee over in free agency with 17 wins, Oscar Tavares makes his mark with a .298 rookie season. Last edited by sprague; 09-24-2014 at 06:19 AM. Reason: Adding Walt Weiss |

2015 Regular Season
TEAMS AL Division NEW YORK YANKEES 105-75 DV Manager- Joe Girardi (3rd season) A rash of injuries but they stay in first playce. they did it with the second fewest runs given up in baseball. In a bizzare move that can only happen in a fictional bb world, Derek Jeter was traded to the Minnesota Twins for Justin Morneau. How about Jeter finishing his career in Minny town? TEXAS RANGERS 98-82 Manager- Ron Washington (3rd season) Good sesasons from Jurickson Profar (.317, 21, 94) and free agent Eric Hosmer (.271,31, 117) has them in the post season. Another Yu Darvish injury slowed things up, but he is back and ready to be 1-2 with 16 game winner Neftali Feliz. SEATTLE MARINERS 97-83 Manager- Eric Wedge (3rd season) Michael Saunders hits 30 home runs. Team makes the playoffs.Felix Hernandez missing half the year with an injury ended any Seattle hope of the playoffs. CLEVELAND INDIANS 96-84 Manager- Terry Francona (3rd season) Continued its improvement, now with a wildcard. Lonnie Chisenhall (282, 33, 137) still the team star. DETROIT TIGERS 96-84 Manager- Jim Leyland (3rd season) While Justin Verlander won the ERA crown (2.81) the hitting went south. Still in the wild card and could do some damage- though a win would mean facing Atlanta in the Quarterfinal. LOS ANGELES ANGELS 94-86 Manager- Mike Scocscia (3rd season) Mike Trout (.294, 36, 101) has another good year, but the loss of Albert Pujols batting behind him hurt. BOSTON RED SOX 90-90 Manager- John Farrell (3rd season) No Red Sox in the playoffs. Assuming they will go hard on free agents in the off season. Will Middlebrooks and David Ortiz passed 30HR TAMPA BAY RAYS 90-90 Manager- Joe Madden (3rd season) Last year's champs miss the playoffs after finishing 28th in runs scored. No starter batted above .265 and Longoria and Will Myers had average years. BALTIMORE ORIOLES 83-97 Manager- Buck Showalter (3rd season) matt Wieters (.289, 31, 107) Dylan Bundy (3.10, 18, 270) not much else. Manny Machado needs to stay off the DL OAKLAND A'S 83-97 Manager- Bob Melvin (3rd season) Oakland needs to find some hitting and fast. A team .247 batting average won't cut it. TORONTO BLUE JAYS 81-99 Manager- John Gibbons (3rd season) Well things did look up for the Jays. Edwin Encarnacion (.275, 40, 130) and jose Bautista (.224, 40, 108) managed to drive in runs. Still a frightening starter ERA of 5.13 has to get better. MINNESOTA TWINS 81-99 Manager- Ron Gardenheir (3rd season) Team is just waiting for their prospects to make it to the bigs. CHICAGO WHITE SOX 80-100 Manager- Robin Ventura (3rd season) Bad team. Jose Abreau (.270, 38, 101) might want to go back to Cuba. HOUSTON ASTROS 76-104 Manager- Bo Porter (3rd season) Jose Altuve arrived (.293) they need those young pitchers. KANSAS CITY ROYALS 68-112 Manager- Ned Yost (3rd season) The first round draft pick is all this season has to show for it. NL DIVISION ATLANTA BRAVES 121-59 DW manager- Fredi Gonzalez (3rd season) A specatcular season again led by the big 4 pitchers wtih Brandon Beachy (3.27, 25, 242)a lock for the Cy Young award but Mike Monor, Julio Teheran and Kris Medlin were all factors. Jayson Heyward (.289, 33, 129) and Juston Upton (.271, 37, 102) make this team a likely World Series winner MONTREAL EXPOS 112-68 PO Manager- Davy Johnson (3rd season) The Expos bashed the second most homers in baseball (247) and being first in runs allowed puts them at Atlanta's doorstep. Bryce Harper, while not MVP caliber was very good (.300, 34, 90), while Stephen Strasburg (3.35, 21, 282) was back, along with Gio Gonzalez (2.96, 21, 239). No injuries heading the postseason\ COLORADO ROCKIES 99-81 PO Manager- Walt Weiss (3rd season) Still in the playoffs but no longer +110 wins. Carlos Gonzalez and Troy Tulowitzki were again average players, but they need them to be stars to win it all. PITTSBURGH PIRATES 96-84 Manager- Clint Hurdle (3rd season) Pirates back in the playoffs. Andrew McCutchen was stellar (.281, 39, 109) and Vin Mazzaro was a surprise on the mound (3.03 17, 198) CHICAGO CUBS 95-85 Manager- Mike Goff (2nd season) A bounce ahead year. Starlin Castro batted .320 and Matt Garza won 18 games. Still waiting for the development of the young stars. LOS ANGELES DODGERS 93-87 Manager- Don Mattingly (3rd season) A surprising average year from Clayton Kershaw (4.00, 14, 270) while Zach Grienke (2.96, 21, 213) led the staff. Adrian Gonzalez was the offense threat (.281,34,108) but not much else. SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS 92-88 Manager- Bruce Bochy (3rd season) Brandon Belt was terriic (.295, 41, 135) Buster Posey average (.367, 21, 98). Tim Lincecum won 20 games again but a weak bullpen ended their postseason hopes CINCINNATI REDS 90-90 Manager- Tony Pena (2nd season) Joey Votto (.289, 29, 114) and Jay Bruce (.264, 34, 120) looked good but the average pitching 21st overall, kept them from the playoffs again. ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS 88-92 Manager- Kirk Gibson (3rd season) No .300 hitters, no 30 HR guys, no 20 win pitchers MIAMI MARLINS 88-92 Manager- Mike Redmond (3rd season) Giancarlo Stanton (.266, 46, 131) again missed out on a super season missing 2 weeks to injury. Free Agent Chris Davis gave the team more punch ((.261, 46, 125) but the offense needs a high average hitter to get on base more. PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES 87-93 Manager- Joel Fuentes (1st Season) Even adding free agents Ryan Braun and Albert Pujols was not enough to make the playoffs. Pujols played in just 131 games and hit only 22 homers. Jonathon Papelbon was good out of the pen (2.23 42 saves) ST.LOUIS CARDINALS 87-93 Manager- Mike Matheny (3rd season-fired) Jacob Cruz (MS replacement Oscar Tavaras was the batting champion and new star of baseball (.322, 27, 102) while Yadier Molina hit .311. yet this team had a rash of injuries to its starting staff and no real longball threat ended their season. SAN DIEGO PADRES 83-97 Manager- Bud Black (3rd season) Slipping away, need some drafts to rebuild. Only Yasmani Grandal to talk about (.306, 35, 118) MILWAUKEE BREWERS 79-101 Manager- Jason Camili (2nd season) A big drop off with the loss of Ryan Braun to the Phillies, left Mark Trumbo (48HR) to be the league home run leader, and only Adam Jones (.270, 28, 105) to help. Yovani Gallardo's dropped from 18 wins to 14. NEW YORK METS 78-102 Manager- Terry Collins (3rd season) Second straight 78 win season. Still no stars at any position. |

PLAYOFFS
Montreal Expos-Champion Wildcard Cleveland 17 Detroit 3 Well it was wild. 20 Cleveland hits, Justin Verlander gives up 7 earned runs in 2.2 innings. Not pretty to say the least.
