Exactly What OOTP is good FOR!!!
Want to share what I got going, and I like it! It is exactly what OOTP is good for
been doing a little of this and a little that lately, but not dedicating myself to anything BUT maybe I got something getting my attention I created a baseball universe Originally, I promoted the two AAA's as Major Leagues, and lowered the 30 teams we know and love down to a weak independent league. I added two more leagues, the Southern Association minus some teams like Atlanta and added some of the newer teams from the Southern League Also, I created the the Cape Cod league I originally wanted to focus on working with the Cape Cod league to begin with.... a sort of semi-college association But then, while looking for uniforms, I kind of started to have an interest in doing something with the Southern Association.... I really started to like the Southern Association and decided that they'll be my primary focus I also reconsidered the MLB as an independent league ... I was struggling with accepting two Pro leagues without the major cities in the U.S. In my other created universe with my made up teams, I have a nice mix of Big Cities (even a duo in New York), but I really thought it stupid..... Then, I thought, the Pacific Coast and International League are between 14 & 16 teams... what if I go somewhat retro and take out many of the newer MLB teams..... So I did, but didn't just delete those other 15 MLB teams, I just made them the AAA And this works OK! as some teams have been minor league teams like the Dallas Rangers, Milwaukee Brewers, Miami Marlins..... So this is good... it is a mix of the early years - hey days - and recent days Old days- few teams in a league and having a competitive league ... such as the Pacific Coast League was kind of originally Hey Days (60s) - still somewhat a smaller league allowing for the better players play together.... so more teams with 3 & 4 hole All-Stars Current - A lot of the play style, very international and financials are related to the current leagues.... The three leagues together allow for a good mix of big city-small-medium city ... and competition for players.... Pacific has 16 teams, the league is more about revenue sharing and U.S. players, limiting international players to 3 and only 1 foreign pitcher..... It is rated a 9 of 10 in reputation compared to the International League and Major League's 10 of 10 The best players earn about 9 million The International and Major League's are a lot alike, the MLB use the modern luxury tax system, the International League is more market oriented.... International, living up to its name, is very aggressive in acquiring international talent..... so being, it may just be the top league The International and MLB both pay the best players about 14 million dollars... Pacific Coast is somewhat second rate and more controlled with the revenue system and limit on international players, but boasts somewhat of a more populist approach with its orientation of west coast baseball and yankee-boys at play This was already the plan, but when it came to deciding which league would be international and home-based, it was an easy choice given the names of the two originally intended Professional Leagues ....... MLB adds a nice twist as a third league being that it is Major City oriented. There is really no minor league system, the Pacific Coast and International League both use reserve rosters .... The MLB only has one minor league level ..... So this makes the Southern Association a reputable professional league at what would be the minor league level...... paying players between 100,000-300,000 a year .... *Interesting twist with the Southern Association is that they play a lot .. over 180 games ... the PCL and International play the regular 144 the AAA plays ... the MLB with 15 teams plays 137 games in a season Being that there is not much of a minor league system, the Southern Association is a nice solution as a competitive league .... Minor League talent, but playing for real..... Cape Cod is not quite a summer league for college guys, it is a first paycheck out of college, junior college or high school ($20,000) with guys hoping of developing and being noticed.... a low rookie league kind of independent league.... I had to link a college feeder league to the league, where there is a draft, and contracts are only for 1 year. So it is a one and done chance league to get noticed by either the Southern Association or the Big Leagues for these lads between 18 & 24 ..... So in place of a minor league, is a system of self-standing leagues filling the vacuum for AA and AAA and a small league serving something like a rookie league (for unaffiliated rookies)..... again, closer to the Older days ....... * I am simulating through the 2014 season... somewhat paying attention to the league leaders and best teams' rosters... *I thought I had real players in my universe, but they either were not, or I somehow removed them...... But it's okay, I had an eye on league leaders, and will play the play-offs to have some kind of handle on who the players are going into 2015...... and then taking 2015 season somewhat slow The players in every league are fictional but I have controls on the percentage of international players joining the league and from which country..... I have Hong Kong, Australia, Taiwan and Israel as some of the irregulars, but I removed the Germany and Italy the game has as defaults ... These pictures will show you the standings as of Sept 1 .... The International League is about to start its playoff .... MLB starts about a week later ... the Pacific Coast starts after the first week in October ... the Southern League not until November with its long season ! |

Anytime, I see The Cape Cod League being part of the Dynasty, I'm checking in ... Years ago, as part of being a Southie lad of late teen, I ran among the Fenway and Kettleers' powerhouse years ... it was one of my cherished memories ... nice touché ...
