Churchill City League (OOTP + Cities Skylines)

So I'm working on a city in Cities Skylines called Churchill. The map is based off Louisville, KY, but the similarities end with geography.

The city's population is currently just over 200k and MSA is over 1.5 million people.

My idea will evolve over time, but I think i just want to create a community-based league with teams representing the different neighborhoods in the city.

Next, I'll give you a census of what communities we have in the city and then we'll get to listing teams and setting up the league. This is just an excuse for me to get more immersed with my own community.

Like the sound of a small league all within a single city. Following this.

The league will start as a two subleague setup with 8 teams in each. We're beginning in 1913.

Here's the original setup. I'm going to sim a while into the future with the original setup before we go making any changes based on neighborhood or whatever. At least 25 years, if not more.

Top 4 teams in each league make playoffs (best of 5), LCS is a best of 7 and the Municipal Series is a Best of 9 game tilt.

Once we've established some history and you all can see the different areas of town, I'm going to open this dynasty up and let people create a player so we can watch your career on a neighborhood team. There are salaries in this league, but they are very low and we are playing with reserve roster rules for now.

In 1922, Shipchester folded and Freetown was added to the county league. Freetown was the first team from a predominately black section of town to be admitted to the league for the 1923 season.

That'll be the only change until at least 1941.

Just occurred to me that since the league is not a major league I need to fix the whole "delete players who don't make the majors" thing since all of them will otherwise lose their records.

Game generated ones. But you just convinced me that I need to use major league ones so I'm gonna go download someone's .dat file and go ahead and set teams up in some historic/modern parks.

Open to suggestions.

In 1942, the leagues expand by 2 teams apiece. We'll cut back to a 30-game schedule mostly because it's what I found. We'll say it's because of the war.

New teams (Dred Scott, Irishtown, Old Churchill, Irvington. Downtown Athletic Club shortened its name too.)

Also Inwood became Upper East Side in 1923.

CC has me thinking I'm gonna download some historic ballpark files, etc.

DIdn't know any existed in the asset mods yet for ballparks. Would be cool if there was enough.

Ooh. Yeah there aren't very many in the game at all. I downloaded what they had, but there won't be enough for that many distinct ballparks unfortunately.

For the 1959 season, the leagues each expanded by 2 again to get to a total of 24 teams.

The season schedule goes up to 44 games.

Here's a skyview of downtown at its most recent. I feel like the city doesn't look as non-descript as it did before.

Also in 1959, we ran a fantasy draft again involving everyone in the league. I forgot teams had reserve roster guys and I wanted to circulate the talent around the league meaning guys who spent their careers in one place might now be reentered into the league on a different team, since the league has no geographic boundaries and instead you can picture this semi-pro league league like one where people from all over come to play.

The County League played with a DH until 1958, too. Both leagues at present do not play with one, as the belief was that it was causing an unfair advantage in the Municipal Series.

In the 1961 season, playoffs expanded from Top 5 teams to Top 6 in each league. (3-7-7-9)

Outside of three of the newest expansion clubs, Upper East Side is the oldest team to never win the Municipal Series.

Now that we have some history, I'm going to go back through the map and show you the various sections of town including mapping out some newer areas that we haven't yet seen.

This is cool. Saw you were doing this on FOFC and I was excited! Would you consider picking one part of the town and posting some street view pictures of it? To let us see what it's like, you know?

Btw, are you playing on sandbox mode or did you build this with the normal system?

Sandbox mode. And I'm going to dive in now and do that on the neighborhood. Game doesn't have a traditional sandbox mode, it's basically mods that allow me to expand the map to be bigger than the original one and I have mods installed that keep demand high and I don't have to make a profit on taxes (even though we are...) because of unlimited cash.
