The KJCCC and career of GM Mike Schaplowsky

ok guys, after some consideration, I am totally changing up my format, I am going to emulate the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference, which of course, are all the junior colleges in Kansas. There are 19 of them that play baseball, and to make things even, I will add a 20th team.

1 league, 2 divisions, 10 teams per division.
90 game schedule, balanced schedule off.
Season will start around June 1st, give or take.

Playoffs will be set up where the top 8 teams from each division get in, leaving 4 teams out every season. It'll be a cross bracket, top team in division 1 plays 8th place team in division 2, and so on. This is the actual format that the KJCCC uses, and I really like it.

There will not be an all-star game, at least not at this time.

No minors, just reserve rosters.

What do you guys think? A total change from what I had going, but I actually think this will work well for me with less teams, less games.

Thanks! Hope you enjoy reading it. I'm actually going to set this up tomorrow, as I posted a question in the general discussions and I'm waiting for some answers.

Ok guys, the league is set up, it's by no means perfect. I'm going to post screenshots of all the teams, rules, options, etc etc from both the KJCCC, which I'm actually using on a major league level because I'm not limiting the league to just college aged players, and the KJCCC High School Feeder League. If you guys see any glaring errors or possible problems that might cause the game to crash or something, please let me know. We'll start with the KJCCC. Here is the league setup, rules, and options.

If you guys see and glaring potential problems with either league, please let me know, I won't be actually starting the league until later tonight or tomorrow, so I'll have plenty of time to correct things.

My plan is to stay unemployed for the first season, giving monthly recaps of both leagues, as well as covering the playoffs in both leagues. FYI, the playoffs for both leagues will be customized, more on that later. The last month of the first season I will go to weekly or bi-weekly reports, as the last month is when the pennant races really heat up.

After the first season is over, I will then accept a GM job with one of the KJCCC schools. If I have multiple offers, I will use a random dice roller to decide which job I take, as I'm starting my GM career completely random.

If nobody sees any major glaring issues, I'll probably get the first month of the HS Feeder league up today, as you can tell I set the Feeder League to start 3 months earlier, so that it can be all wrapped up in time for the KJCCC draft.

Here's a look at the final standings and playoff tree for the KJCCC HS Feeder League, in case anyone is interested.

For this league, the playoffs will take the top 4 teams from each league (Greater Wichita and Ark Valley). Top team in the Greater Wichita will play the 4th seed in the Ark Valley, and so on. Wichita South, the 2nd seed from the Greater Wichita Division, won the first KJCCC Feeder League title, but take a look at how competitive both divisions were. Good stuff.

The first 2 months of the first season of the KJCCC is over, and as a prospective GM of one of these clubs next season, I am definitely taking a look at who I might end up taking control of. One team that interests me is Butler. They were predicted to win 28 games this season and as you can see, they've already exceeded that, in 2 months. Crazy.

Recap to August 15th

With the rosters set to expand now, let's take a look at the standings. For the KJCCC playoffs, the top 8 teams in each division qualify, and just like the feeder league, the First Round will be cross division (#1 East vs. #8 West and so on). Here's a look as we have a little under a month left in the first KJCCC regular season.

Heading into the final week of the season, we see that those Butler Grizzlies, who were predicted to finish dead last in the West and win 28 games, has clinched the West Division and will be the top seed in their half of the bracket. Things are a little tighter in the East, as Independence and Labette are neck and neck. Only one team has been officially eliminated from playoff contention, and that is Highland. Possible destination for me? You bet.

First round of the playoffs is completed. 3 lower seeds advanced, and a #2, #3, and #4 seed are out. Both #1 seeds are still alive.

I have been offered several jobs, and I was going to just do a random dice roll to decide where I ended up, but I think I'm going to change that. Highland was the first team eliminated from playoff contention. They won 26 games in 2016. I am a brand new, unproven GM. Playing this the right way, an unproven GM would take the most challenging job offered to him, because if he fails, it wouldn't be like he completely came in and trashed a good team. So, I am accepting the job offer at Highland to see if I can turn them around.

So, this is going to be a lot harder than I thought it was going to be. The budget for Highland is terrible, and after making some offseason moves and having the budget changed, we're now $6 million in the hole. And I didn't even really sign any great free agents, just a middle of the pack starter and a couple bullpen guys. This is NOT going to be easy.

The opening day 25 man roster is set, and we'll go over it, but since I can't remember how to do it where I post a screenshot and then type stuff, I'm just going to do my analysis and attach the screenshot.

For starting pitching, we have 1 solid starter in Krysiak and a huge dropoff from there. If Krysiak struggles or gets hurt, we are in a world of trouble.

Our bullpen will be a strength, but I fear they may get overworked.
