R.I.P: Islandian Pro Alliance and State Line League

After 10-12 years the IPA is no more... also the new State Line League is kaput after one year of coverage... the files were corrupted and couldn't be saved.

I have spent the last month trying to save my two dynasties, the Islandian Pro Alliance and State Line Leagues, to no avail.

The OOTPB Team tried to salvage the IPA and the SLL for me, but couldn't.
Special thanks to Scott Winn and Matt for working so hard on them.

I will try to work up a new dynasty... this time I will back up weekly on an external hard drive so that this will not happen again.

and most of all... most of all... thanks to all of you who followed the IPA for so many years.

I very much appreciate all of you.

Sorry to hear. All good things must come to an end I suppose. Looking forward to your future dynasties though!

The most amazing run of any dynasty here. How many versions did it last through?

I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of the Islandian Pro Alliance and State Line Leagues, Eugene. I know the time and effort you put into those amazing dynasties.

I feel as though the dynasty forum has lost it's flag ships .

But if there's a positive side, you now have a fresh canvas to work with in creating your next dynasty. Here's hoping you're back up and running soon!

Congratulations on a very successful dynasty. i hate to see it end, but i'm glad you were able to keep it going for so many years. Compare that to the dynasty that don't make it for one year or even one season. And then there are guys like me that never get going.

Rest assured, if you start another fictional world league, i'll be following it.

Many thanks for providing me with reading material for break time.

Sorry to hear that. But I congratulate you on the dedication to both dynasties. They will be missed! Hope to see a new dynasty soon enough!

Sorry to hear Eugene. Was hoping you could salvage your cherished league. Will miss IPA. Take it from someone who has had to go in a different direction, start over or reboot (for various reasons) in the past, you'll regroup, rebuild and create something just as special in the future, if you want.

For the 2001 season I used OOTP12... when I converted to OOTP13, the archives were messed up, so I just went back to OOTP12 and continued to use it up until a month ago.

The Islandian Pro Alliance debuted May 23, 2006 on this Dynasty Forum... actually began it with OOTP2006, I think... my first intention was to begin the IPA in the 1890's with 4 local amateur teams in each of the 64 towns... for instance, Denton City would have teams called the Miners, Trappers, Farmers and Towners, named for the various industries and businesses in each locale... then in 1900 add games between each towns in each region of the country and progress from there to actual regional leagues in the 1910, culminating with a professional league to begin in 1920 ... but after much, much work and effort to set up all the 256 teams, I discovered that OOTPB at that time could support only 50 subleagues... this was very disappointing... finding out that, I just skipped ahead and began the league as the first professional league in the islands... started with 12 teams for the first year, then expanded it to 64 the second season... the first IPA season was 2001.

Agree with you...actually, losing the leagues is somewhat a blessing in disguise... the IPA was just too much to cover with 64 teams... it became just too much work to administer and report on... also trying to expand to the State Line League was a mistake... one dynasty is enough for me.

My next dynasty will be 8-16 teams at most, so I can be thoroughly immersed in it and cover each game on the forum.

It will also give me time to closely follow your wonderful Braeland dynasty... which is one of the top 5 of all time IMHO.

I always appreciated your comments... they helped me keep the IPA going.

Thanks for being so loyal to the IPA.

You, Portlander (Goody) and all of the guys in the Laseron Baseball Association certainly were the first dynasty that inspired me to attempt something similar... however, the IPA is pale in comparison to the LBA, Metro League and the United League of Braeland.

The Laseron was brilliantly designed with wonderful graphics, logos and uniforms... I think you had a wonderful newspaper, too, with articles written by each owner about their team and the LBA... I loved the ethnic groups, each with special surnames.

Thanks for your dedicated support over the years, DreamTeams.

Your Metro League is still one of my all-time favorite dynasties... now I will have plenty of time to completely devour the Metro in detail... your website with its beautiful logos, jersies, stadiums, town histories and map make the Metro very special.

Your Metro League, along with the Laseron Baseball Association, inspired me to create the Islandian Pro Alliance... both dynasties are as good as it gets.

Izz, thank you for your wonderful support, too.

Sorry, I also lost the State Line League... you were very supportive there, too.

I will really miss the State Line League, too... it was a way to relive the good times of my life... and also some of the not so good times.

Like Jimmy Buffett says in his song "He went to Paris"... "Some of it's magic, some of it's tragic, but I had a good life all the way"... that's the story of my wonderful life.

Thank you for your kind words and support.

I'll be back fairly soon.

Losing my dynasties was my own fault... should have regularly backed up the leagues... I also lost my All-Time All-Star Association after playing 11 tremendously enjoyable seasons because I didn't back up.

Think I have finally learned my lesson.

Thanks for checking out the IPA.

I like the way you use the newspaper in the your Fictional History of Baseball dynasty... The Baseball Post is a nice touch... I always like it when someone uses an old newspaper setup for their league... I have no talent whatsoever in creating something like that, but I wish I could.

Your other Champion League is very nice, too... I like the graphics.

Eugene, I'm sorry to hear about the loss of the two greatest dynasties on this forums.

The IPA and the State Line League were some of threads I started reading and what inspired me to start contributing on here.

Looking forward to what you got going on next!

Much appreciate your kind words.

Thanks for taking a look at the Islandian Pro Alliance and the State Line League.

Boy, you do a very nice job on your Pac-West and Northeast dynasties... super graphics... and very well written.

Keep an eye out for my next dynasty... have no idea what I will do... but I do know I will only do one dynasty and it will be 8, 12 or 16 teams... no more.
