The Year the Mariners Went 162-0

This is a dynasty about the 2016 Mariners, who incredibly went 162-0 and then swept the playoffs to win their first-ever World Series.

Basically, I'm going to force-quit any time the M's lose a game.

I think it will be fun to see what kind of numbers the team will put up if everything breaks right, 173 times in a row. I'll give weekly updates on the team's progress. Here we go!

an ominous start

On opening day, before the M's had even played a game, owner Howard Lincoln passed away. New owner Todd Lincoln (his son) wants us to finish at least .500, to upgrade our left fielder (Nori Aoki, ecchh...), and to make the playoffs within the next four seasons. I think we can do it!

Very interesting idea. I recommend you back up the game as often as you can, because I've heard force quitting has a tendency to corrupt game files

Halfway through the season, Todd Lincoln is "very happy" with our 82-0 record. He is also pleased that we found an improvement in left field- Nori Aoki- replacing Nori Aoki. OK.

I'll throw up the midseason stats for our illustrious squad.

July 6: 9-2 vs Astros. Felix got his 18th win, and Aoki hit two home runs in the rout.

July 7: 7-6 vs Royals. Ketel Marte, Kyle Seager, and Franklin Gutierrez homered, and Steve Cishek barely held on in the ninth for his 33rd save.

July 8: 7-4 vs Royals. Guti homered again to reach 15 on the season. Taijuan Walker left with an injury after one inning, but the bullpen pitched well and Cishek got another save.

July 9: 5-4 vs Royals. Nate Karns pitched eight solid inning, followed by yet another Cishek save.

July 10: 5-4 vs Royals, 10 innings. After Joel Peralta coughed up the lead in the ninth, Dae Ho Lee hit a sac fly in the tenth to give the M's the win.

Taijuan Walker was diagnosed with a torn back muscle and will miss the rest of the season- he went 15-0 with a 2.65 ERA. Mike Montgomery will replace him in the rotation, with Vidal Nuno coming up from AAA to join the bullpen.

Nelson Cruz was the top vote-getter in the American League, and he, Robinson Cano, Kyle Seager, Seth Smith, Nate Karns, Nick Vincent, and Steve Cishek all made the all-star team. Nori Aoki actually leads the AL in WAR with 4.5 and was absolutely robbed.
