Got any good NICKNAMES??

I'm writing a fictional replay of baseball history in the Time Warp thread. We're currently in the 1915 season, and one of the more interesting parts for me is coming up with good nicknames that also fall into the correct era. Personally, one of the great parts of baseball history and lore is hearing all those great nicknames of players gone by, such as Ducky Medwick, Three-Finger Brown, The Splendid Splinter, The Chairman of the Board or even just The Mick.

I would love to hear any suggestions you have on some great nicknames. I've already downloaded some extra nicknames to be used in the game, but they're basically all modern nicknames. Please feel free to add nicknames for past or present eras.

Just don't use nicknames of real historical players unless it's something fairly generic that could be used again. Obviously, don't say The Babe or Hammerin' Hank, because I wouldn't use them. But Ducky would be acceptable.

This list could then be used by anyone out there wanting to assign some nicknames, especially in leagues like mine. If this list does well, I'll try to add some of the ones I've used in the TWB.

how about Cardiac Kid. It wasn't given to Pirates closer Mike Williams, but would work well for those types of pitchers that like to put runners on base late in games, or just a pitcher with a poor clutch rating.

G.I. Joe names not "old school" enough? Lots of names matched or could fit in your list. It's an old kids show after all.

By old school, I mean with regards to nicknames in baseball.

Perhaps 25% seem appropriate to baseball, even less of the Cobra names. Somehow (maybe it's just me) Tomax or Xamot just doesn't sound right for baseball....especially for the era which Matt is currently playing.

Yeah, those nicknames are definitely oldschool since they sound kind of lame by the standard today, but definitely not 1915 kind of oldschool.
