VOTE: Time Warp HOF Ballot 1938

1936 Initial Ballot Results, 1937 Results

The only player elected to the RL HOF in 1938 was Pete Alexander.

All players from previous ballots were retained on this one, plus I listed the players with HOF Standards scores of between 45-49. Again, I would list more, but I'm afraid this ballot would get too big to scan through.

Vote for as many or as few as you want. Max votes are 10.

HOF Standard: 50 is considered an average HOF'er. 100 is max.

FYI: Since this is our 3rd ballot, after this vote is completed, I will begin enforcing the rule where a player falls off the ballot forever if he does not receive at least 5% of the votes. That player will, of course, become eligible for induction by the veterans committee (which begins in 1946) 21 seasons after retiring.

Cohan---better than Whiskey Allen...If Cato's was used from inception...I am sure he would have every Catcher category...including defensive Win Shares

Ditty--1st pure power hitter, not as great overall as Pops Falise, but not far behind

Archer---3 no hitters, career stats were before TWB...but such a great nickname and well deserved.

Fournier-The real leader of the Blues dynasty...and gave me great quotes Seriously was the best leadoff hitter before Tito Nunez and Tito was just so above every one else.

Can ya tell I like their place in history and leaderboard placements rather than HOF Standards...lol

EDIT!!!!!

I forgot Shepard McBean...UGH

/EDIT!!!!!!!!

Archer never won a POTY award, or led in Wins and ERA and a lackluster winning percentage.

He doesn't really compare with Tan...

Granted it was the deadball era for many of these guys, but there were some really excellent pitchers...

By now we've all heard about Tan, Archer and McBean... but why has everyone overlooked Albertini, Krosser, Castellon, Nelson, Adams, Tiedt and Sutton?

For example, has anyone noticed that Castellon won 18+ games in every single season of his career? Only three times did he win less than 20. He won 2 POY and, if I'm not mistaken, was a WS MVP.

Albertini was incredible for a lot of mediocre Dodgers teams but still managed to win 64% of his decisions. He was overlooked then and appears to still be so now.

Krosser was good when the Phillies weren't, but he was also a big key to their success in the early part of the century.

Nelson spearheaded the early Yankees success, and in 4 World Series was 5-2 with a 1.11 ERA in 8 starts, including 2 shutouts!

As someone else said before, McBean is unfortunately underrated. He was a star on some poor Senators teams, but went 3-0 in their only WS appearance during his career.

I think most, if not all, of these guys are HOF'ers, but the question is how and when will they get in.
