Since you made your first post to ask, Rahhja, I'll oblige...
Welcome to the forums!Drafted 2nd overall by Nashville at age 22, Dumas spent all of four days in AAA before winning 1952 Rookie of the Year with a .339 average (only 4 homers though). An All-Star since 1953 (that's 10 straight), he was Western MVP in '56, '57 and '58, then Eastern MVP with Carolina in '59, '60 and '61. Currently his career numbers are: .319, 308 HR, 1039 RBI, 1058 R, 1226 BB (.440 OBP). Only two Slick Fielders and one championship ring, both back with Nashville. March 1, 1963 Offseason Recap Two new members of the Confederate Baseball Association Hall of Fame this year: Four-time Hurler of the Year Joe Melton retires at age 40 to become the first "Instant" Hall of Fame inductee. A nine-time All-Star with three championship rings, Melton compiled a 204-144 record with a 3.39 ERA and 2058 strikeouts in his fifteen-year career, all but two months with Norfolk. (15 seasons, 204-144, 3.39 ERA, 2058 Ks, 4x HoY, 9x All-Star, 3x championships) Two-time MVP 1B Brian Gray is just the second batter to go into the Hall. An eight-time All-Star with 3 Slick Fielder awards, Gray hit .298 with 444 doubles, 264 homers and 1257 walks in a fourteen-year career, eleven with Miami. (14 seasons, .298, 264 HR, 444 2Bs, 1257 BB, 2x MVP, 3x Slick, 8x All-Star) A number of candidates for "Second Look" Hall consideration retire as well: Eleven-time All-Star RF Scott Heyer retires at age 40 after fifteen seasons with Norfolk, Memphis and San Antonio. With two Slick Fielder awards and three championship rings, Heyer hit .301 with 283 homers, 360 stolen bases and 1358 walks in his career. Two-time MVP 3B Travis O'Connell hangs them up at age 40 after fifteen seasons with Atlanta, Carolina, and Jacksonville. An eight-time All-Star with 2 Slick Fielders and 2 championships, O'Connell hit .308 with 427 doubles, 215 homeruns and 1176 walks on his resume. Nine-time All-Star CF Nick Bacon calls it a career at age 41 after fifteen seasons, ten with Tampa. With a career .303 average, 206 homers and 212 steals, Bacon won his only Slick Fielder award in 1958. 1953 Hurler of the Year Steve Bruce retires after fifteen seasons, ten with Jacksonville, at age 41. Winning a ring with the Ospreys in 1957, this seven-time All-Star struck out 2505 batters while collecting a record of 175-131 with a 3.23 ERA. [The only close call in this group is Bacon, but he's a solid 'Yes' with 2662 back-projected hits. If Heyer (2258 hits) and O'Connell (2369) can't hit the automatic standard, I think it must be a bit high. Other than Delisle (2801), only Jerry Carroll (2030) has cracked 2000 amongst active players. Maybe 2700 hits and 2200 w/.300 is more realistic... I'll have to think about it. A 20-year career hitting .245 is 2700 hits, though. (versus .273 for 3000)] San Antonio drops Bill Warnock after one 103-loss season. The new Missions' manager is Ed Smith. Carolina gets the only $5 million piece of revenue sharing. Miami SP Wayne Moorman (15-10, 3.90) is tops out of arbitration this year with another $6.0 million contract. Memphis sends two stars to the arbitrator, with 2B Jonathan Ralls (.267, 28 HR, 99 RBI, 126 BB) getting a slight bump up to $5.0 million and last year's MVP C Jim Bonds (.349, 25 HR, 119 RBI, 121 BB) going from the minimum $300K to $4.7 million. Free Agency Highlights February 6 - RF Scott Henry (.302, 13 HR, 81 RBI, 28 SB) re-signs with the two-time champs, getting three years for $8.3 million from Miami. February 7 - Nashville picks up SS Jim Sheperd (.324, 7 HR, 77 RBI, 33 2Bs) for four years at $8.2 million. February 10 - New Orleans puts big money in their bullpen, signing CL George Beck (35 SV, 2.71, WHIP 1.14) for four years at $7.6 million. February 17 - LF Malcolm Harris (.321 in 442 AB, 21 HR, 88 RBI, 85 R, 86 BB) leaves Atlanta for Dallas, getting two years for $9.8 million at age 39. March 2 - Rule 5 Draft Tampa (from HOU) - 2B Henry Maynor, .362 in 58 AB at AA Lakeland

Only Miami has any success against the West in June as the Meteors zoom out to a 11 1/2 game lead over .500 Carolina in the Eastern Division. Not all is well in South Beach, however. Wayne Moorman's incredible first half (11-1, 2.01) comes to a screeching halt on June 10 due to a strained tricep. Moorman will try to extend his decision streak beyond ten wins after the break. Nashville continues to lead the West, now by 2 1/2 games over the surging Houston Buffaloes, who have won their last six. Western Division Batter of the Month: LF Curtis Kearney (NSH) - Hit .367 with 9 HR and 24 RBI Western Division Pitcher of the Month: Don Boyd (NSH) - Went 3-0 with a 3.00 ERA Eastern Division Batter of the Month: 3B Douglas Harris (MIA) - Hit .356 with 6 2Bs, 3 HR and 24 RBI Eastern Division Pitcher of the Month: Mike Leigh (MIA) - Went 3-1 with a 1.50 ERA Western Division Standings Nashville..... 47 - 34 .580 - Houston....... 44 - 36 .550 2.5 New Orleans... 44 - 37 .543 3 Dallas........ 41 - 40 .506 6 Memphis....... 38 - 43 .469 9 San Antonio... 34 - 45 .430 12 Eastern Division Standings Miami......... 52 - 29 .642 - Carolina...... 41 - 41 .500 11.5 Atlanta....... 38 - 43 .469 14 Norfolk....... 36 - 46 .439 16.5 Tampa......... 35 - 45 .438 16.5 Jacksonville.. 35 - 46 .432 17

Miami continues to run away with their third consecutive Eastern Division crown, now leading Carolina by a monumental sixteen game margin. The Meteors decide that this squad is pretty good and sign two big extensions. SP Wayne Moorman (12-3, 2.01, WHIP 1.23), back from the DL strong, gets six years at nearly $10.0 million, while SS Wade "Merlin" Hudson (.298, 11 HR, 68 RBI, 77 R, 73 BB, 31 2Bs, 7 3Bs, 48 SB) gets a four-year extension for $7.1 million. Elsewhere in the East, Atlanta extends SP Ted Knott (9-7, 2.96, WHIP 1.19) for four years at $6.4 million. The Western Division remains tight with Nashville holding a slim one game lead over Houston. The Buffaloes are looking for their first season above .500 ever, as well as their first finish in the top half of the division since finishing second with an 81-81 record in the CBA's inaugural year. The Hounds are not standing idly by, however. On July 9, Nashville sends SP Tom Gustafson (9-8, 4.25, WHIP 1.24) and his $6.6 million salary with a minor leaguer to Jacksonville for SP George Russell (5-8, 4.35, WHIP 1.35). July 28 sees the Hounds get SP Danny Warfield (5-10, 3.78, WHIP 1.30) from San Antonio for SS Chad Dearborn (.250 in 116 AB). Finally, on July 30, the Hounds send surprising SP Don Boyd (10-1, 2.31, WHIP 1.22) to San Antonio for left-handed bat LF John Wethington (.287 in 178 AB). Meanwhile, Memphis ties down SP Desmond Cramer (17-3, 2.97, WHIP 1.03) for six years at $6.9 million. Western Division Batter of the Month: 1B Kevin "Pluto" Pierce (MEM) - Hit .360 with 5 HR and 22 RBI Western Division Pitcher of the Month: Desmond Cramer (MEM) - Went 6-0 with a 2.40 ERA Eastern Division Batter of the Month: CF Bob "Popcorn" Mangum (ATL) - Hit .351 with 8 HR and 20 RBI Eastern Division Pitcher of the Month: Oscar Alloway (ATL) - Went 2-0 with a 1.51 ERA and WHIP 0.70 Western Division Standings Nashville..... 63 - 44 .589 - Houston....... 62 - 45 .579 1 Dallas........ 55 - 52 .514 8 New Orleans... 53 - 54 .495 10 Memphis....... 50 - 57 .467 13 San Antonio... 49 - 57 .462 13.5 Eastern Division Standings Miami......... 70 - 38 .648 - Carolina...... 54 - 54 .500 16 Atlanta....... 49 - 59 .454 21 Norfolk....... 48 - 60 .444 22 Tampa......... 46 - 61 .430 23.5 Jacksonville.. 45 - 63 .417 25

Houston has won their last four games to take a two game lead over Nashville for the Western Division. The Buffaloes and the Hounds have four games against one another in September, two at Entergy Park and two at Capitol Field. Meanwhile, Dallas LF Malcolm Harris collects his 2000th hit in Tampa off Eric Tisdale on August 31. An eight-time All-Star, Harris has hit .288 over a sixteen-year career with New Orleans and Atlanta. The East, in contrast, has zero drama left as Miami's magic number is six with a month of play remaining. The Meteors are trying to win their third consecutive CBA championship and top the record of 101 wins they tied two years ago. Elsewhere in the East, Norfolk 1B Ken Lennox, claimed off waivers from Carolina in mid-June, hits for the cycle at Atlanta on August 8. Western Division Batter of the Month: LF Barney "The Hawk" Sonnier (NWO) - Hit .365 with 9 HR and 21 RBI Western Division Pitcher of the Month: Dave Donnell (HOU) - Went 3-0 with a 0.90 ERA [Now a four-time All-Star, two as a starter, two as a reliever] Eastern Division Batter of the Month: C Aaron Hess (MIA) - Hit .385 with 6 HR and 25 RBI Eastern Division Pitcher of the Month: Wayne Moorman (MIA) - Went 5-0 with a 2.39 ERA Western Division Standings Houston....... 78 - 57 .578 - Nashville..... 76 - 59 .563 2 Dallas........ 69 - 66 .511 9 Memphis....... 67 - 68 .496 11 New Orleans... 65 - 70 .481 13 San Antonio... 61 - 74 .452 17 Eastern Division Standings Miami......... 87 - 49 .640 - Carolina...... 65 - 70 .481 21.5 Jacksonville.. 62 - 73 .459 24.5 Norfolk....... 62 - 74 .456 25 Atlanta....... 60 - 75 .444 26.5 Tampa......... 59 - 76 .437 27.5

Things are far from decided in the Western Division standings as Nashville leads struggling Houston and surging Memphis by one game with two to play. The Blues won twelve of thirteen beginning September 7 to vault themselves into contention. The Hounds are in Dallas, the Buffaloes host San Antonio, and Memphis meets New Orleans at The Fabulous Avalon for the final weekend. In the East, Miami clinched their pennant on September 5 with a 6-0 shutout of Tampa. Their 105 wins (with two to go) shatters the previous record by four. Elsewhere, Tomahawks CF Jeff Regan hits for the cycle, including a grand slam, on September 18 against Atlanta. Western Division Standings Nashville..... 87 - 73 .544 - (Magic: 2) Houston....... 86 - 74 .537 1 Memphis....... 86 - 74 .537 1 Dallas........ 79 - 81 .494 8 New Orleans... 79 - 81 .494 8 San Antonio... 73 - 87 .456 14 Eastern Division Standings Miami........ 105 - 55 .656 - Carolina...... 79 - 81 .494 26 Jacksonville.. 75 - 85 .469 30 Atlanta....... 71 - 89 .444 34 Norfolk....... 70 - 90 .438 35 Tampa......... 70 - 90 .438 35

Confederate Series Preview The Miami Meteors are hoping to win their third straight CBA championship after winning a record 107 games under sixth-year manager Curtis Flowers. The Meteors took seven out of twelve from the Hounds this season. Miami's pitching staff paced the league in nearly all categories, including ERA (3.34), opponent's average (.245) and runs allowed (613). Southpaw Wayne Moorman (23-3 in 30 GS, 1.80, WHIP 1.17) had an insane season despite missing a month with a strained tricep. Ron Woodard (18-9, 2.74) and Mike Leigh (14-5 in 29 GS, 2.68, WHIP 1.08) nearly pale in comparision. Closer Charlie Wilkinson (4-2, 30 SV, 1.99, WHIP 1.00) blew just three saves all year. The Meteors' offense is tops in the CBA as well, in batting (.283), scoring (858) and stealing (272). SS Wade "Merlin" Hudson (.296, 18 HR, 99 RBI, 111 R, 99 B, 42 2Bs, 15 3Bs, 65 SB) leads the attack with CF Bob Crane (.341, 14 HR, 80 RBI, 104 R, 22 2Bs, 9 3Bs, 33 SB), C Aaron Hess (.313, 16 HR, 93 RBI, 29 2Bs), LF Mark Brown (.357, 12 HR, 70 RBI, 105 R, 38 SB) and 1B Steven Wells (.306, 12 HR, 68 RBI, 28 2Bs). 3B Douglas Harris (.302, 11 HR, 73 RBI, 19 2Bs, 35 SB) and RF Scott Henry (.234, 16 HR, 65 RBI, 18 2Bs, 11 3Bs, 35 SB) provide additional speed. The Nashville Hounds are in their third Confederate Series with two-time Manager of the Year Andrew Brasfield. Nashville has homefield advantage in the series after playing 45-37 at Capitol Field this year. The Hounds rank third in ERA (4.02) and runs allowed (719). Paul Hill (13-17, 3.57, WHIP 1.17) and Don "Hawkeye" Lafferty (11-5, 3.44) both threw well in the second half of the season, while George Russell (9-15, 4.54) had a bit of a hard luck year (3.8 RS/G). Ron Peters (6-4, 36 SV, 2.17, WHIP 1.07), like his Miami counterpart, has just three blown saves this season. Nashville is third-best in both batting (.271) and scoring (772). Only RF Curtis Kearney (.299, 31 HR, 111 RBI, 107 R, 29 2Bs, 45 SB) and 2B Jack "The Prophet" Thomas (.290, 27 HR, 111 RBI, 91 R, 33 2Bs) are worth writing home about.

March 1, 1964 Offseason Recap The Confederate Baseball Association Hall of Fame nearly doubles with the Class of 1964: Eleven-time All-Star RF Scott Heyer won three championship rings in a fifteen year career with Norfolk, Memphis and San Antonio. A career .301 hitter, Heyer collected 283 homeruns, 1358 walks, 1392 runs and 360 stolen bases along with a pair of Slick Fielder awards. (15 seasons, .301, 283 HR, 1392 R, 1358 BB, 360 SB, 2x Slick, 11x All-Star, 3x champ) Two-time MVP 3B Travis O'Connell hit .308 in fifteen seasons with Atlanta, Carolina and Jacksonville. An eight-time All-Star with 2 Slick Fielders and 2 championship rings, O'Connell hit 215 homers and 427 doubles, driving in 1214 runs. (15 seasons, .308, 215 HR, 1214 RBI, 427 2Bs, 2x MVP, 2x Slick, 8x All-Star, 2x champ) Nine-time All-Star CF Nick Bacon was a career .303 hitter in fifteen seasons, ten with Tampa. Bacon accumulated 206 taters and 212 steals, as well as a Slick Fielder award. (15 seasons, .303, 206 HR, 212 SB, 1x Slick, 9x All-Star) 1953 Hurler of the Year Steve Bruce struck out 2505 batters in a fifteen year career, including ten in Jacksonville. A seven-time All-Star, Bruce had a career ERA of 3.23 with a record of 175-131. (15 seasons, 175-131, 3.23 ERA, 2505 Ks, 1x HoY, 7x All-Star) Two-time MVP SS Jerry Carroll retires at age 40. A five-time Slick Fielder and six-time All-Star, Carroll hit .283 with 331 homers and 1220 RBIs in fifteen seasons with Dallas, including a championship year in 1953. [You don't need to give too much extra credit for being a good fielding shortstop to put this guy in the Hall.] Tampa fires Lloyd Jorgensen after two 90+ loss seasons out of three. The Tomahawks pick up two-time Manager of the Year Harry Easterday... ...recently dropped by the Ospreys. Jacksonville won just 64 and 75 games the last two years, but they pick up five-time Manager of the Year Lloyd Jorgensen for his 17th season. Norfolk lost at least 90 games in their two years under Charlie Woodson, so the Clippers pick up rookie Ron Hennig. Two-time Manager of the Year Woodson decides to call it a career. [Well, not exactly voluntary retirement. Normally he would be a 'free agent', available next year, but he'll be at his maximum (16 years + 1 pennant). Basically he gets screwed because Jorgensen already had a stint in Norfolk, so there weren't any seats left when the music stopped.] Jacksonville receives $5 million via revenue sharing.
