DOUBLE TROUBLE IN MEMPHIS

Memphis (AP) - Memphis officials and resident deity Jesus Christ were on-hand Wednesday to announce the signing of free agent deity catcher Altjira to a 7-year, $142.4 million dollar contract.

Memphis becomes the third team to double-up on the deities and the only team in the CL with two religious icons in the line-up. Altjira was the last deity remaining on the free agent market and will bat 3rd in the line-up, right in front of 3008 Triple Crown winner, Jesus Christ.

"We're absolutely ecstatic to get Altjira here," stated Christ, who could not stop smiling during the press conference, "We've made the playoffs the past two years, but couldn't seem to get any further. I think Altjira is absolutely the piece of the puzzle we were missing and I can't wait to get out there and play some ball!"

"I am very proud that Memphis showed such an interest in me," Aboriginal deity Altjira declared, "I mean, they have a great team here and great fans. I was able to win the World Series in 3006, so I can bring in some of my experience and wisdom into the clubhouse and hopefully give everyone that championship mindset that you need to have to be the best."

With the signing of Altjira, Memphis easily catapults to the easy favorite to win the Continental League Championship and is projected to meet Cleveland in almost all World Series projections. Altjira has hit for the cycle 4 times, been named Player of the Week 12 times, Batter of the Month 4 times, MVP in 3005, World Series MVP in 3006 and has won 4 Golden Gloves.

Yeah, the teams with no deities are going to get absolutely demolished, but it will be very interesting to see Cleveland, Memphis and Columbus all bump heads or to see if too many deities spoil the broth...

This has been one of my favorite threads to read at work over lunch. Hope you plan on a few more installments. The deity quotes should be absolutely halarious with two on some teams.

More DCL updates will be on the way - have been uber-busy with work as of late, so am hoping things will calm down soon...not to worry, I am too curious to see how this all shakes out to let it fade away!
