VOTE: Time Warp HOF Ballot 1947

1936 Initial Ballot Results, 1937 Results, 1938 Results, 1939 Results, 1940 Results,
1941 Results, 1942 Results, 1943 Results, 1944 Results, 1945 Results,
1946 Results

In 1947, the first players were elected to the RL HOF by the BBWAA since Hornsby in 1942. They were Carl Hubbell, Frankie Frisch, Mickey Cochrane and Lefty Grove.

All players who received at least 5% of votes on the last ballot were retained for this ballot. I also added players who became eligible for the ballot in 1947 (retired after 1941 season).

All players not receiving 5% of votes on this ballot will be removed. Also, all players who have been retired for 20 years fall off this ballot if not elected.

Vote for as many or as few as you want. Max votes are 10.

HOF Standard: 50 is considered an average HOF'er. 100 is max.

Had a hard time narrowing down to a handful this time, so I'll go with these eight.

Hitters
1-Roy "The Natural" Hobbs, CF
2-Sam Kass, CF
3-"Ray of Light" Brown, CF
4-Quenton Misisca, 1B
5-John Schmeider, LF
6-Willard Schwarz, C

Pitchers
1-Bourbon Allen
2-"Nasty Ned" Fargo

EDIT: OOOPs, voted for brown twice... corrected.

How 11 gold gloves and a .300 average (see Ozzie Smith) has gotten overlooked is beyond me. Brown should have been in a while ago.

- Look at all those HR, 2B, RBI and SLG leaderboards! I am shocked he never won a BOTY, but he was a force in the AL for years and #2 all-time in HR's
Schmeider
Kass
Finley
- 10 GG's, 7 pennants and 5 WS wins. Plus a .288 AVG, 1139 R and a whopping 632 SB for a catcher! Defense and offense. Was a Yankees sparkplug atop their order thru most of their 2nd dynasty.
Smith

While he will eventually get in, this year I'm purposely snubbing Bourbon Allen because he reminds me of Will Haggan. Bourbon's better than Haggan was, but outside of his 1928 POTY season, Allan was never really excellent. He had some very good years from 1926-33, but a whopping 322 losses and the fact that many of his great stats (all-time wins and CG) are due to longevity more than superb quality, makes me hesitant to vote for him right away.

John Scmeider was one of the all time great Braves and I have a hard time picking between him and Hobbs. There are also so many great other stories that should be in the hall. I have a good feeling Schmeider will be in soon. He will have a spot next to Bourbon and Roy in the Braves HOF.

No pitchers this year. Maybe I'll vote for Bourbon later, but those 322 losses just kill him for me on his first ballot.

How can you vote for Misisca, but not Schwarz? Aren't the essentially of the same mold?
