I don't think the game logs are needed; if there is something particularly memorable you'll cover it for us in the thread.

Why don't you guys use the website?

Is it hard to navigate?

Feedback would be helpful.

If it is a crummy site...tell me...I can take it.

I do visit the site every so often--the year I wasn't active here I did look at it more; but I don't know enough to know if it is a bad one or a good one. When I do pop by, it is generally to look at the Cubs' stats a little deeper, get a refresher on who is on what squad that sort of thing--so I know what and where to look for what I want to know. It has been a couple weeks since I last was there.

Eugene,

I do follow on your website as well. It's well done. In fact, I've thought about starting one for my dynasty but just haven't put the time or money into it. Again, love what you are doing!

Computer Manager Question

Eugene,

Are the teams in your league run by computer managers? If so, how do you stop them from releasing players? I want the teams in my college league to be run by the computer, but I don't want players to be released and picked up by other teams. Is there a solution to this? Thanks.

I control all of the teams.

It is the only way I have ever played the game.

AMERICAN LEAGUE

Going into the last week of the season, the Philadelphia Athletics (83-64) have nudged ahead of the Cleveland Indians (81-66) by two games. Over the last three weeks the A's have put up a 13-9 mark, while the Tribe came in at 10-10.

Philadelphia will be at home hosting the third place Yanks (76-71) for four games and the fifth place St. Louis Browns (59-78) three times. Cleveland will close out the season at home against the same two clubs with four against the Browns and three against the Bronx Bombers.

All of the clubs have overworked pitching staffs and will have to go to the bullpen and secondary starters in the twinbills scheduled for today.

The A's will send Ed Rommel (9-3 4.29) to the mound in the first game against rookie Victor Starffin (5-5 4.47). In the nightcap Connie Mack will use lefty Bobby Shantz (11-5 4.21), who has been used mainly in late relief with some spot starts this year. Manager Casey Stengel of the Yanks will have Ron Guidry (10-8 4.56) on the hill. Of late Guidry has been in the bullpen. He was an 18-game winner last season and was named the Golden Arm Award winner as the AL's outstanding pitcher.

Cleveland's Steve O'Neill will have Early Wynn (13-10 3.66) start the opener, then go to the bullpen for little-used Mel Harder (2-1 4.86) in the second game. Earl Weaver of St. Louis will counter with Dennis Martinez (5-7 4.27) and Dave McNally (6-7 3.32) in the doubleheader.

NATIONAL LEAGUE

John McGraw's NY Giants (89-58) have already cinched the National League crown. They are 9 games ahead of the second place Boston Braves (80-67) going into the final week of the season. The Pirates (75-72) have moved up to third and the Cardinals (73-74) have plummeted to fourth.

Save: Shantz 9 (12-5 3.94)

Going to today's games the Athletics' magic number was two. They knocked it down to one with the win, then took the American League championship, when the St. Louis Browns beat the Cleveland Indians.

He ripped a 2-run homer in the fifth to put St. Louis in front 2-1 and then delivered a 2-run single in the sixth to make it 5-1. Vern Stephens slapped the gamewinner with a 2-run single. That made it 7-1 and it was pretty much over for Cleveland title hopes. The loss gave Philadelphia the American League championship.

After the time the first season took, it is hard to believe the second season is over so soon.

Keep it up EC!

I did a dastardly thing...I started to sim games totally...the first season I played out the last 3 innings of every game.

That is why I did it in half the time.

The only negatives are that the AI will jerk a pitcher who has a low pitch count late in the game, when a real manager wouldn't do it...at least a manager in the 1950's...but as you know, this game is programmed for modern baseball...and the modern Tony Larussas use 3-4 pitchers an inning sometimes.

Therefore you get fewer complete games. But that wasn't a big deal for me.

I really hate I can't transfer this league to OOTPB2006. But I couldn't stand losing so much of the history.

I will probably start it over, but this time use the minors. The major league team will be composed of players from 1900-1930, AAA from 1930-1960, AA from 1960-1980 and A from 1980-2006.

I might continue this league and sim seasons, just to see how it would come out.

And continue to give summaries in this Dynasty report.

I will do it, if I have the time to do it, plus my new Alltime Allstar Association and Tycobbian-Ruthlandian league, too.

Really looking forward to the new version. It looks like it will really be great.

1902 WORLD SERIES: GAME ONE AT THE POLO GROUNDS

KING CARL HUBBELL HUMBLES ATHLETICS IN OPENER

PHA - 000 000 000 - 0 4 2
NYG - 201 200 00X - 5 10 0

WP: Hubbell (1-0 0.00) 9IP 4H 0ER 1BB 5K
LP: Grove (0-1 7.20) 5IP 7H 4ER 2BB 2K
Rommel (6th) 3IP 3H 0ER 0BB 2K
HR: NYG - Dihigo (1)

Recap: Carl Hubbell was the King of the Hill in the first game of the 1902 World Series at the Polo Grounds in New York. He totally stopped the Philadelphia A's on just 4 singles. He was backed up by excellent hitting from Martin Dihigo (.750/1/2) with 3-4, a 2-run homer and 3 runs scored. Freddie Lindstrom (.500/0/1] was 2-4 with an RBI...was was Alvin Dark (.500/0/1). Mel Ott (.250/0/1) had the game's other RBI. Lindstrom also starred in the field as he started 3 double plays. The Athletics' offense was anemic and no one got as far as second base. Lefty Grove, a 20-game winner in the regular season did not fare very well. The Giants slammed him around pretty well.

In Game Two, it will be Christy Mathewson (19-4 3.72) for New York and Ed Plank (15-9 3.81) for Philadelphia.

Recap: Barry Bonds (.125/1/1) of the New York Giants made up for 4 strikeouts with one huge swing of the bat. He homered off Rollie Fingers to lead the Giants to a late inning comeback victory over the Philadelphia Athletics in Game Two of the World Series. The Giants moved up two games to none in the best-of-nine series. The A's took an early 2-0 lead in the third when Mickey Cochrane (.500/0/1) doubled off starter Christy Mathewson and scored on a single by Alejandro Oms (.375/0/1). Al Simmons doubled in Oms with the second run. It stayed that way until the sixth when Martin Dihigo hit one out for New York and cut the margin to 2-1. Philadelphia expanded the lead to 3-1 in the eighth when Jimmie Foxx (.125/0/0) cracked a double and scored on a single by Shigeo Nagashima (.714/0/1). Ed Plant seemed to on the way to the win, then the Giants mounted a comeback. They almost waited to late...with two down in the ninth Freddie Lindstrom (.500/0/1) doubled and then scored on a single by Al Dark (.429/0/1) to close it to 3-2. Then pinchhitter Chino Smith (1.000/0/1) ripped a triple to tie it up at 3-3 and set the stage for Bonds to win it with his walkoff homer in the next inning.
