Thanks, yeah I heard they want a better contract with better benifits. But they get their runs the old fashioned way, they earn them LOL

2007 and My Utilities
At this point, I think most of my tools work on 2007. However, a lot of the utilities are no longer needed, as they are part of the game now; at least the concept.
Historical Photos are automatically brought into the game from a location where they are stored. This is very nice, however, it is not the perfect solution, as players with the same name as other players are overwritten. With the facegen, people generally may not want to use the minor league collection I was using for fictional leagues. However, some will feel the facegen is not their cup of coffee. The main purpose of AUphoto2007 will be to fine tune the photos. I have newly found photos on my server, so you can have my program grab any new found pictures to fill in the ones that are missing in your collection. It also allows you to have a different photo(s) for each player, based on the year. So, you can have a different photo for 2002 and for 2003 for the same player. While there is a way to have OOTP automatically load in logos, it is not year related. My logo program is now part of AUPhoto2007 and puts in the correct historical logo for each team and year. The rest of the programs should still work, once I do some minor mods to each one. That will not be done until the 2007 game is released. The almanac is very complete in 2007, in fact way complete, if I can say that. So my almanac program will go away, but, part of it will live on. You can save the CSV files per month and/or per year and decide what files to save. So, you can now look at a player's complete history of his ratings, month by month, over his whole career. So, once the game is released, that is when I will start to write my fun stuff. So, have your suggestions ready. This new version of OOTP has so much stuff in it, that I will have a hard time writing as many utilities that I did last year. But you know me, I will find something to program.

Just an update as the game is getting close to being released.
With well over 100 new features, there may be very little for me to write utilities. Well, wrong statistic breath. I have several plans up my short sleeves. I already wrote one program for my own pleasure. It is called LogoWatchDog. It is a program that runs in the back ground and as the end of the year comes, my program copies over historical logos. It takes about 8 seconds to do each year. So, you can run a simulation from 1901 to 1950 and when it stops, all of the teams have the historically correct logos. As a bonus, if you are using the almanac, each year almanac will have the correct logos in it. So, if you look at the almanac in 1925, you will see the Tigers with the correct logo. I will be rewriting the Photo program to enhance the way OOTP adds photos. My program will check my server for additonal photos that I will be updating. My goal here is to have the most complete MLB photo collection available. Whereas I may have 20 pictures of Nolan Ryan and you decide which one you want to use. I also want to try to get as many pictures of each player that I can for different years. So, if I have pictures of Nolan Ryan from 1968 to 1975, my program would update your league each year, so that Nolan will age with the game. You would then be able to see Bonds head get bigger each year. I also have a plan for more stat displaying program. Displaying stats that are not displayed in the game now. More reports that did not make the OOTP cut this year. More ways to look at stats. My HOF point program will be revamped. One of the suggestions that I made was to be able to automatically do a CSV dump monthly and/or yearly. This feature made it and it is going to be very powerful for me. When turned on, it may slow down the simulation by adding a minute to it for each year and also use more disk space, but it creates some great possiblities for me. You could run a 50 year simulation while you are sleeping. Wake up in the morning and then get a report on a player's ratings over his entire career, month by month. I also have a top secret project that I have been working on in my head. No details on it, but you will like it. I do plan on taking a look at the cato situation. Mainly because I am tired of hearing that damn cato word. I plan on writing programs to enhance the online experience by creating more HTML reports and pages. But, once the game is released, I want to take a week or two and play the game. |

Once you know which utilities work with 2007, and aren't already superseded by new game functionality, let me know as I would like to add them to my site.
Thanks! EDIT: Just saw your other posts lower in the forum... I'll grab those two utilities for now, and keep an eye out for more... Last edited by PadresFan; 03-22-2007 at 06:44 PM. |

How long is it supposed to take, generally, to update player histories wirh history 6.x? It starts out quick but then quickly starts to slow to the point that when I finally decided to exit the program, a players name had been showing for 2 1/2 hours.

I've never used these programs or the csv export in ootp. for LogoWatchDog, it says to "Do a compete dump using the CSV format. (Commas or semi-colons can be used, either one will work)".
Where exactly is this in ootp2007? Is it the "export data to csv files" under the import / export functions, in the league setup? thanks |

No, look under GAME SETUP and then under DATABASE. There is a button below that says TOOLS, click it.
You can also do it from the setup screen where the functions are. Quote:

Site is up and working fine from this end.
No, no new programs are planned. Support from the community has moved writing programs for OOTP to a low priority. I will continue to write programs for my own use, but I really am disappointed in the community's lack of participation in any of my programs. No one has sent me any new photos or logo collections, only 18 people have signed up the newsletter and I have recieved one donation of 20 bucks since the release of OOTP2007. I now am starting to understand why Cato disappeared.

Larry, am very sorry for the lack of support for all your great work, but can understand your feelings. Am 72 and on very tight budget myself so am unable to help financially, but always appreciated all you do for the game. Your utilities are the very best and I have used most and love ease of use you build into them. Very sorry to lose your fine work.

I checked a few minutes ago and found only one bad link.
I will be working on the site over the 4th while everyone else is shooting their fingers off with fireworks.

Larry, you had an AUBallpark utility at one time, is it defunct?
