Good work comedian!
I am starting my universe over just so I can take advantage of this utility!

Fixed a first season bug that was created later on. If you got an error the 1st time you ran it, try again, it is fixed.

I hope you keep adding new things to the almanac when you have time. I really am glad I re-started my universe to use this program!
Good work!

I do plan on adding more, but when the response to a program is low, it gets put lower on my priority list. However, this is the type of program that I hop back in and work on it, I do several things.
You can hint at what you want to see it in. The next thing I am going to add is to create menus to tie the different years together. But I am assuming you mean stuff like the year by year rating grids.

Thanks and Request
I have not used this program yet since it has taken me weeks to try to find my way through to just setting up to play. Your program is really needed and appreciated. I would ask that, if you have not already done so, that you please consider adding the ability to track at least manager history and records. It surprises me that SI overlooked this when they added such an extensive personnel conmponent to the game. Thanks again for your efforts.

So far I have run the 1980 & 1981 seasons with no problem then I noticed a few things
1. no color coding like you show in your examples 2. I exitited the program and went on to do a few things, came back and opened the program and when I click on a player I get an error message that asks is I want to continue or quit and i can't look at the stats for any players

OK, in answer to #1.
Color coding will not be shown until the 3rd season. This is by design. #2. I was able to duplicate this, but, if was because I had screwed up. I had picked a league that I had not done an almanac for. When you are looking at the ratings, what is the date of the season. Is it still 12-31 or have you advanced further into the season? If you have advanced, did you do a new CSV dump or a new stats dump? I have NOT tested the program that way, but will do it right now. I have basically just tested the ratings after doing the end of the year backup on 12-31. Without looking at the code, I think that could be an issue, if it is, I will correct it.

I 'think' that the reason that it is not tracked is because the computer managers are so much based on the teams that they are managing. They have no individual skills. So, if you take the manager of a WS winning team and move him to a last place team, he will not improve because of the managers or coaches. I am working to get this improved in the 2007 version.
The computer manager vs. the human manager are two different objects in the game, so this may complicate things. Also, when a computer manager is fired, does he just go away or does he end up on another team eventually? Does he manage minor league teams. Does anyone know the answer to these questions? Quote:

OK, 1st, I updated the program to show color coding, even just two seasons.
I simmed my league to mid April and did a CSV dump and I was able to see the ratings without a problem. Now, when I had the wrong league up there, I was getting an error when I clicked on a player. It was bombing out on Sammy Byrd. It had his nickname as: Babe Ruth S Legs Not good. During the beta of the OOTP game, I noticed that if a player had 2 or more nicknames in the Lahman database, it pulled in both nicknames and put a ; between each one. This caused the dump to be bad, since there were now extra fields in this players record. I suggested they change the semi-colon into a dash. They did not, they just eliminated the 2nd nickname from being pulled in. The bad news is that I cannot check to see if this problem exists, as the entire line is being pulled in. Even if you change it to a comma dump instead of a semi-colon, it does not help, as my program just changes all of the commas to semis after they are pulled in. I do not beleive that you have an error in the dump, as you are seeing the list of players. Can you click on DETAILS and copy and past the first 20 or so lines here, as that may help me.

BTW, one of the toughest formulas to write was adding the age to the year by year ratings. That had me stumped on how to do it for quite a bit. Here is the formula I ended up using.
.Item(0, i).Value = .Item(0, i).Value & "/" & (ThePlayersAge(PlayerID) - (FirstYear - lblFirstYear.Text) + i + 1) It boggled my mind on this routine!!

OK, I am going to add some error trapping today to it so I can see where the problem is.

OK, please try running it again and hit ratings.
If it errors, it should popup with a message telling what section it errored in. Let me know what your error message is and I can go from there. Current build is 1.2.15.1

I put the error trapping in the hitters, not the pitchers.
Are you getting an error in the hitters? I will add some to the pitchers now.

OK, try again with hitters and pitchers with this version and see what happens.
If you have yahoo IM or MSN IM, add me and we can debug through that way. I am webcomedian@msn and webcomedian@yahoo.com

Waiting for Targy to get back so he can help me debug the ratings problem. I am having no problem here with my test league.
I looked at the manager stuff and it will not be easy to do, but not impossible. I have to find in the transaction files when a manager was fired. I then have to figure out who the new manager was and figure out the teams w/l record at that time and apply the split to the managers. I am not sure if the hiring date of the manager is saved anywhere. This may be an impossible task.

I just purchased (a few days ago actually) two Seagate Baracudda 320gig SATA 7200rpm 16MB hard drives (to be ran with Raid/0). I then will use my current 120gig 7200rpm 8MB IDE Western Digital HD along side these for storage. For a total of 715gigs for storage (after windows install, ect) I'm all set for your almanacs bud! LOL!!!!!!!!! Yeah, I'm a damned stats freak. Oh well.

I will post this here because this is the newest and best program yet. WebComedian has put together an awesome collectiojn of add-ons to this game. I had a great conversation with him today and I we went over some great ideas in making the almanac an even more awesome program
Please everyone donate a few duckets to Webby he does all this work for gratis to keep us all happy with these great programs. I for one know that he has made little through donations, even if you can only send a few dollars it would add up. Remember he does this all for free and never begs for money. I was so hoping that Markus could integrate his game with these great programs , even allowing him to put together an add-on pack Or even a one time fee that would get you access to existing and future programs
