He will use the PCL database in 1903 and the "stats" database for 1905.

Did I uderstand correctly?
If the player is in the PCL, it will come from the db the PCL is drawing from. Same for the season that he is in ML, whichever the ML is drawing from.

The way I see it, there are two approaches one could take.

One would be to combine the databases into one and run it as a single league. Since you're limited to two subleagues, you'd have to get creative about how to align the teams. For instance, you could have the AL and NL in one subleague, as divisions, and the PCL in its own subleague, and set up some kind of playoff structure based on that.

The other option is to keep the leagues separate. This might be more historically accurate in terms of structure. You'd have the two separate databases, and you'd have to edit them so that guys who start in the PCL are only in the PCL database, whereas guys who start in the MLB are only in the MLB database, and allow free agents (maybe trades too?) between the leagues.

I'm a fan of alternate reality scenarios, so I could envision having something more like the first scenario above, with fictional but theoretically viable expansion over time.

ctorg, the db are already separated in the fashion that you mention.

Really? Cool. I didn't realize that. I haven't even looked at the final product yet (obviously).

Has anyone done a quickstart of the PCL yet? I'm interested to play this, but frankly a little overwhelmed by how to make it work. I posted the same question over in the Historical League forum.

I'm interested in a PCL-only version and in playing with the new database alongside the ML. I don't care that players are on their real teams, but I'm confused about how to avoid double players, etc.

Was there a final release for this database? There isn't one posted on OOTPMods.com.

I had downloaded the quickstart Henry had made but noticed there were only a couple players listed/rated as outfielders (1903?).

Pep, I have the original files of the db, but OOTP makes it so hard to use, there's a long list of instructions needed in order to utilize it.

It'd be nice if OOTP allowed the PCL as one of the add on leagues which would make using it much easier.

Roger that. We can all dream that someday... Again, let me offer my gratitude to you for working on this. I hope your efforts will lead to changing OOTP in order for these sorts of things to work.

For the record, I have put all of this together with the best set of instructions that I can put together and sent it to the OOTPMods site administrator.
