1.2 patch improved PBP a lot

I have not played a game out since the initial release.

This 1.2 patch is certainly an improvement over the initial release...at least in PBP.

The text flows much better. You guys did a fine job streamlining the PBP.

I only saw one typo or token error.

Baron winds up...
Here's the 2-2 pitch...
O'Callghan with a half swing. Did he go?
George Horsford appeals that one...
(nlO'Callghan held up...
That's ball 3.

Fix: add in the close bracket after the "l"...should be: (nl)O'Callghan held up...

I took a lot of notes while playing the game out pitch-by-pitch...Whew, it really takes a while to play pitch-by-pitch.

I will post my findings and suggestions in another thread in a few days.

I want to play out several more games to see if there are any repetitous trends in the PBP and to see if certain elements are missing.

I agree. The pbp has improved with each patch.

Thank you for the nice comments.

Eugene, the "(nl" mistake you pointed out has been fixed. The next time we have an opportunity to release an updated version of the XML file, it will be all gone.

Good.

I thought the file was updated with the new patch.

Great job on the play-by-play, M's rule.

I love the John Stirling addition to the home run calls:

"It is high...
It is far...
It is...GONE!!!!!!"

Not a fan of his work, but it was a nice welcome addition to the game. M's...if you put that in, my hat is off to you.

Well, it's not so much that I put it in. It's more like, I didn't take it out.

After some brief discussion somewhere on these boards, we decided to take out a few of the more over-the-top, esoteric home run calls (including Dave Niehaus's "rye bread and mustard" line, a personal favorite of mine).

John Stirling's call got to stay in, because (a) it's pretty generic, at least in written form, and (b) I live on the other side of the country from where he works, and I've never heard him call a game.

You can put your hat back on now.
