I love that example! Damn you, I was about to start playing the game and stop tweaking, but now I want to do this for my association!

Ok, I'm running up a bizarre problem. I have created new .jpg images for the following files:

- menu.jpg
- menu_wide.jpg
- si_logo_bottom.jpg

If I put them in the ...\news\html\images folder for my league before launching the game, or the saved game, OOTP overwrites the files as it's loading the league. I can actually see it happening if I watch the directory... They are overwritten with the original images.

Now, if I wait until the game is loaded, and then put the images in place, the game will use them. However, next time I run the game, they get overwritten again... Any ideas????

try this.

copy the templates folder that is found in data/
place that folder into your league folder. Then, put your edited images in to league.lg/templates/images

that should fix your issue.
If not, I'm on AIM, and we can try to hash this out if you want. (RobbyRuggles)

robster1225,

Thanks for releasing this. This will be a huge help in my attempts to give OOTPBB2007 that customized look.

sporr - no, but I did send my league file to rob so he could see if he could find the issue I was having.... For now, I put the image files out in the main templates directory and it is working, although my custom images are now used for any league I create...

Thanks. I'll do it that way.

After looking at your file, I'm officially stumped. I tested this in one of my leagues, and I got the same thing.

So, I'll TT this for Andreas to look at, but until then, custom editing the templates, as outlined in my guide, as well as putting your images in the main DATA templates folder will get the job done. I recommend custom editing the templates, as it gives you more flexibility. If you look at the reports I linked to, you should notice that I made the images bigger on the team pages by messing around with some HTML. If the reports aren't updated yet with that change, I'll get a screen shot up. It's quite amazing how much you can edit, honestly.

Sorry guys, that's been a bug! The files have been copied each time when you load a game. Will be fixed in patch #2. They will only be copied if they don't exist.

Thanks, Andreas! I know I for one love the customization of these HTML pages, so I'm glad your fixing this issue.

First let me thank you for that guide! Nice one!

Now what I've found:

Quote:

The wonderful people at SI were kind enough to include .psd files of the images used in the HTML
reports. You can find this folder inside templates/images. These files can be edited with photoshop or a
free program called The Gimp. If you don't have either of those programs, you can still create images
using which ever program you choose. After creating the images either name them the same as the
default image and then replace it in the “template” folder you are working in, or you can edit the template
with the correct name of the image. Remember, if you overwrite an image in that “master” template file,
you are replacing the image throughout the entire game, so backup that folder.
We didn't include the .psd files AFAIK

Images are always taken from /league folder.lg/news/html/images. They are copied into this folder when you create a league. The "master" folder where they come from is /data/templates/images, that's right.

The styles.css will be copied to /league folder.lg/news/html/ when you create a league database. Each database always has it's own styles.css.

So, changes to the master images folder or to the master styles.css will have effect when you create a league database next time, but not for existing league databases.

dola,

Feel free to redesign complete pages!

If you for example want to remove anything from a pages, you can do that. OOTP will not crash when it tries to replace a token and doesn't find it in the template. Just adding tokens will not work because their needs to be the code in OOTP to replace the token with a value.

Tokens? A token is a placeholder in the template, which is being replaced with a value by OOTP when OOTP builds the report. Looks like this:
[%VORP]. Must not be changed!

If you edit HTML, please keep in mind that OOTP's in-game browser has limited capabilities

Andreas, the .psd files are in data/templates/images. Thanks for clarifying the rest, I tried to in the guide, but it may not have come out correctly. Anything in data/templates is the "master" file, but each save (database) can have it's own template and images.
