We all know that the OOTP graphics community has delivered some really wonderful creations over the years. I personally have greatly benefited from the generous nature of quite a few people.

For that, I can only say, thank you!

Now, I am going to ask you to dig just a little bit deeper, for a big challenge.

This year, OOTP 9, hopes to ship with a fictional quickstart complete with the goodies already in the game, so a lot of people will have easy access to your work.

Over the next couple of days, we're going to develop the league name, cities, team names and their affiliates, for a small custom quickstart to be shipped with OOTP 9.

I hope that we can get a bunch of the modders together to compete and cooperate to deliver the best possible logos for this quickstart. We'll need everything, logos, uni's...you name it.

I'd like to know who's in.

What kind of copyright concerns do we have with logos, though, since most logo makers use premade stuff?

We will not come within 10 miles of a copyrighted image or name. It's required to be all original stuff.

Keep in mind that there is a need for about 50 logos, and that simple solutions can be elegant.

The real world Dodgers have a simple logo and uniform in the MLB.

If you want just single letters, maybe these will work...

I'll help. I always thought that something like this, from the community, should ship with the game or be released shortly after. I know most everyone likes their own custom teams and leagues, but I think with a group effort we could at least 'pepper' in some of that variety.

That said though, I do agree with Raidergoo's call for simplicity and some continuity of style.

I want to echo these statments - it is a great idea to get a 'fictional' quickstart shipped with the game. I think there are many users that play with the game generated logos and uniforms, and I think this will get more players immersed in their universe. It also takes away some of the intimidation of the sometimes tedious process of setting up a custom league. Hopefully this will encourage more modded quickstarts to also be created and give users different options to pick from.

This is the sort of stuff I was hoping to see! I don't need a graphic as complex as the dragon in my avatar, just something that is pleasing to the eye.

The same principles apply for hat logos, and uniforms. A simple cursive script of the team name or city would be good.
