What about having something like that but team logo on one side and the league logo on the other? I don't seem to see the league logos very often and might be a nice touch.. maybe something similar to this?
-edited to fit graphic in the window better..:-)

I believe the intent of this design is that the league logo could be used to replace the logo on the right, if so desired, just as you mentioned!

davwms, I like your idea too, but I have one concern. In your mockup, you have a combination of a very short city, very short team nickname, and very short report name. What happens when it's, say, the Baltimore Orioles, and the report is the Positional Strength Overview?

Thoughts?

If it doesn't exist, it will create one: OOTP will check the /logos folder for a logo matching that name or OOTP will create a fictional logo.
After doing that, OOTP will check the images folder for a logo file Denver_Demolishers_100.png. If it doesn't exist, it will be created. OOTP will do this for each dimension, using the appropriate number, down to Denver_Demolishers_25.png.
OOTP will not resize the original logo of course. The original logo will remain 150x150 pixels.

So, you can either let OOTP do that or you create your own logo(s) for one or more dimensions and save them in the images folder. OOTP checks each single file and if one of the files already exists it will be used.

Here's the next draft of the reports header, made by our graphics designer Aurelio! There are 110x110 pixel now for the logo. This report header could be customized much easier than the old one. Online leagues could just replace the head line and the logo on the right with their own logo!
Do you like the draft?

I think fhomes's mockup still beats this one done by Aurelio. In the one done by fhomes, the logo looks like it truly belongs where it is. In this new one by Aurelio, it still looks forced.

I think I know the answer, but if I had created custom header and footer graphics to replace the BNN and Baseball News Network stuff, this change is going to break that huh?

I much prefer the menu being on the bottom as in Aurelios's new mock-up, but I can't say I like the boxiness of the rest of it. I think solid horizontal colours would look much better. It seems to me the team logo could even be a tad bigger otherwise that BNN stuff is rather pointless wasted space. Do we really need "Baseball News Network" and BNN? You don't see the real life major news networks detailing their full name along with their acronym. I'd align BNN on the left, just right of the team logo. I do like the idea of having the team logo on the left and league logo on the right. I'd leave that whole right corner for the league logo, though, instead of forcing it to be smaller with the BNN on top.

I agree with Battists that having the team name and page name on the same line won't work. I like the style of one smaller and under the other.

fhomess' is appealing at first, but I don't like the shadowing on the menu words and, again, I prefer the menu underbeath closer to the actual content.

[EDIT: That reminds me, please go back to the pre-OOTP9 style of having the menu in the game on the bottom of the header closer to the content. Why make the user's eye and motion move further than necessary.]

Having curves on both sides as in davwms seems like too much. If you really want curves on both sides (curves do break up the boxiness well), I'd go for more of a yin-yang effect where the curve on the left goes up as shown, but the curve on the right goes down before the league logo leaving a different coloured background for the league logo.

Okay, two things: 1) How long has this been the case, and 2) Why wasn't this information made available earlier? Because the info in the quote makes it clear it is already possible to do secondary team logos in the game (albeit in a somewhat indirect way). Logo makers could have run with this if they'd known about it!

Is there a list of ALL the sizes which a logo can be displayed, and on what screens each size is used?

(As an aside, I will repeat that it is best not to have more than three or four distinct logo sizes. Consistency is good in this regard.)

on a second look, I think it would be ideal to merge this and fhomes's mockup.
1) shorten the blue bar with "baseball news network" in it.
2) then add the beveled corner piece from fhomes's idea to each side.

Then the logo is on the left, and either the new logo in Aurellio's mockup in the right, or else a league logo, or for minor league teams, the parent team's logo might make more sense.

Then just size the baseball news bar to fit in between the beveled upper level of the logo backgrounds

LOL oops. I wonder how long it'll take before we have a "first screenshot of OOTP 10" thread. You could crash the server.

Ah, okay. Thanks for clearing that up. I was wondering how I could have missed something like that being in previous versions.

I like the intent... displaying the logo on-screen at a larger size... and I think its important to have these logos displayed as close to 150x150 as you can get. That's because if you're designing one and you know they most commonly show up in some smaller size, then the temptation is to start designing for that smaller size, removing some detail you might otherwise leave in.

I think you have to choose carefully which screens and the logo's placement on them otherwise it just shows up in a seemingly haphazard fashion or maybe dominates the screen to no real purpose. The team's home page (as in the example) is a good selection; the first one I'd pick.

So bottom line is I like this idea.
