WIP: European Baseball
This is something I've been meaning to do for a while now, and finally got started on. As the thread title implies, it's uniforms for a handful of European clubs and competitions.
Information about these leagues and teams can be sketchy, and there's certainly a language barrier in some cases, but I think these are reasonably accurate. In most cases, I was able to dig up high-resoultion (or high-enough-resolution) pictures to work from. A few had to be created by hand, but they're certainly close to accurate. I'll be posting them in alphabetical order by country, and then I'll tack more on later if I do any more. You can download the entire set here. The OOTP 15 updates for Italy and the Netherlands are available here. First up, Austria! The top tier of baseball in Austria is the Austrian Baseball League. The league contains 8 teams: Attnang-Puchheim Athletics Dornbirn Indians Schwab Tigers Soroptimist Stockerau Cubs Union Kufstein Vikings Vienna Metrostars Vienna Wanderers Wiener Neustadt Diving Ducks Last edited by eriqjaffe; 04-20-2014 at 10:53 AM. |

Austria's second tier is Baseball Bundesliga, which contains 6 teams:
Feldkirch Cardinals Hard Bulls RiCo Highlanders Rohrbach Crazy Geese Traiskirchen Grasshoppers Union Kufstein Vikings 2 (not included) There are other tiers (Regionalliga Mitte, Regionalliga Ort and Regionalliga West), but they seem to exist solely as junior clubs (essentially farm teams) for the teams in the ABL and BBL. The ABL and BBL work on a promotion-relegation system, which doesn't seem to include the Regionalliga clubs. I haven't really been able to dig up much information on the Regionalliga teams (although, admittedly, I haven't really looked too much), so I haven't even tried to make caps or uniforms for them. Belgium is a bit strange, as they seem to have separate-but-not-entirely governing bodies for Flemish and French teams. I'm not Belgian, so I don't really understand the politics in that regard. As near as I can tell, the three main tiers of baseball in Belgium are kind of a mish-mash of the two bodies. The top two tiers run a promotion/relegation system, I'm not sure if that includes the third tier or not. Either way, I was able to dig up enough source material to make uniforms for all three tiers of Belgian baseball.
The highest level is 1 Division Baseball, which contains 8 teams: Borgerhout Squirrels Brasschaat Braves Deurne Spartans Hoboken Pioneers Merksem Royal Greys Mortsel Stars Namur Angels Royal Antwerp Eagles Last edited by eriqjaffe; 04-27-2012 at 10:17 AM. |

3 Division Baseball, with a total of 10 teams:
Antwerp Eagles 2 (not pictured) Braine Black-Rickers Frameries Athletics La Louvière Snarling Wolves Leuven Twins Merchtem Cats 2 (not pictured) Oudenaarde Frogs Seraing Brown Boys Tournai Celtics Zonhoven Sunville Tigers Yes, there's a team known as the "Brown Boys." It's a pretty uncomfortable name, but...well, there you go. I didn't do jerseys or caps for the Frameries A's for two reasons: 1) That was a club I couldn't find any pictures for, and 2) if their logo is such a blatant Oakland A's ripoff, I figure their jerseys probably are, too, so I just use that. Are these real-life teams and leagues? This could be very useful. Do you treat second and third level leagues as minors?

To be honest, I haven't really set up any actual leagues for this, other than to just make sure the uniforms and caps look right. But, yeah, I'd probably set up the lower-level leagues as minor leagues and just remove team affiliations as necessary. |

The Czech Republic seems to have a pretty well-organized setup, and their league seems to be run at a fairly high-level (at the very least, their web sites are pretty slick). In fact, they even have their website available in English, although more information is available on the Czech-language website (and it's just a Google Translate away).
The top tier, Extraliga, has been dominated by the Draci Brno (Brno Dragons) club, who have won a staggering 14 consecutive titles. Now that's an evil empire! Extraliga contains 8 teams: Arrows Ostrava AVG Draci Brno Eagles Praha Kotlářka Praha NAVISYS Hroši Brno Olympia Blansko Skokani Olomouc VSK Technika Brno When I had originally done these, I didn't know that MZLU Express Brno had dropped out of Extraliga. I had already done a set for them, so I included them in this batch. Last edited by eriqjaffe; 04-27-2012 at 10:26 AM. |

The second tier is the 12-team Českomoravská liga. 5 of the teams are just "B" clubs of Extraliga teams and (presumably) share caps/uniforms with the top-level clubs, the other 7 appear to be unaffiliated.

Like the Czech league, baseball in France is in the midst of a dynasty. The Rouen Huskies have won 7 consecutive titles, and 8 of the last 9 overall. But it still doesn't get them halfway to the all-time French title leader Paris Université Club, who have won 22 titles.
The top level of baseball in France is Division 1, previously known as the Division Élite. It contains a total of 8 teams: Barracudas de Montpellier Chevaliers de Beaucaire Lions de Savigny-sur-Orge Panthères de Pessac Paris Université Club Rouen Baseball 76 Huskies Templiers de Sénart Tigers de Toulouse Last edited by eriqjaffe; 04-27-2012 at 10:31 AM. |

The second division is known Nationale 1. I find it kind of funny that there is a team known as the "French Cubs," yet the Cherbourg Seagulls wear Cubs caps.
Nationale 1 has a total of 17 teams: Arvernes de Clermont-Ferrand Barracudas de Montpellier 2 (not pictured) Cavigal de Nice Cougars de Montigny-le-Bretonneux Expos d'Ermont French Cubs de Chartres Gothics de Gif-sur-Yvette Huskies de Rouen 2 (not pictured) Indians de Boé-Bon Encontre Korvers de Dunkerque Lions de Savigny-sur-Orge 2 (not pictured) Meds de Marseille Paris Université Club 2 (not pictured) Seagulls de Cherbourg Squales de Vauréal Thiais Tigers Vipères de Valenciennes Last edited by eriqjaffe; 04-27-2012 at 10:35 AM. |

Thanks for sharing a labor of love!
The Wanderers and the Highlanders crack me up.

Yeah, the Highlanders logo looks like Moe from the Simpsons in a kilt swinging a baseball bat. It's quite bizarre.

Finland is in progress, but not ready yet.
Germany, however, is. I'm not sure if this is a semi-pro or professional league or not (Wikipedia doesn't list it as a professional league), but with 15 clubs, it's certainly the biggest top-level league in Europe. The top level is the 1. Baseball-Bundesliga: Bad Homburg Hornets Berlin Sluggers Bonn Capitals Cologne Cardinals Dohren Wild Farmers Dortmund Wanderers Haar Disciples Heidenheim Heideköpfe HSV Stealers Mainz Athletics Mannheim Tornados Paderborn Untouchables Buchbinder Legionäre Solingen Alligators Stuttgart Reds Last edited by eriqjaffe; 04-27-2012 at 10:37 AM. |

The second tier in Germany is 2. Baseball-Bundesliga. The two leagues run on a promotion-relegation basis, and 2BB has 14 teams, 6 of which are clearly the Junior clubs of the 1BB squads. The other 8 appear to be independent clubs:
Berlin Roadrunners Braunschweig Subway 89ers Darmstadt Whippets Haar Disciples 2 (not pictured) Hannover Regents Heidenheim Heideköpfe 2 (not pictured) HSV Stealers 2 (not pictured) Ladenburg Romans Mainz Athletics 2 (not pictured) Neuenburg Atomics Paderborn Untouchables 2 (not pictured) Ratingen Goose-Necks Regensburg Legionäre 2 (not pictured) Tübingen Hawks Last edited by eriqjaffe; 04-27-2012 at 10:38 AM. |

Great Britain has a fairly extensive arrangement, I was able to find good enough stuff to put together four levels. The top tier is the 8-team National Baseball League:
Bracknell Blazers Croydon Pirates Essex Arrows Harlow Nationals Herts Falcons Lakenheath Diamondbacks London Mets Southampton Mustangs Last edited by eriqjaffe; 04-27-2012 at 10:39 AM. |
