Come learn the hard way

Ok the poll was a joke but this is not.

I don't have a clue.

But I'll just keep clicking buttons for a couple of hours.

This is what I am using. I bought it 2 years ago and couldn't figure it out. Gave up.

Dusted it off..trying again.

Lesson #1

Don't save over the top of your template. Luckily, it's a quick download to start over with a brand new template.

What does this button mean?

Why are the panels turning colors when I select that layer as active. I just wanted to start with white. Is that red really visible? I didn't select red.

Im not 100% sure what you are doing or trying to do, but perhaps I can shed a little light. First, I suggest checking out the Jersey Tutorial I have linked in my signature. It explains 'masking' and 'layers' a bit.

I use Photoshop Elements, which isn't as powerful as the full blown photoshop and doesnt allow me to created linked layers or folders and such.

The above pic shows an example of Masking. The idea is that you can 'mask' two layers... generally one is a color (or a texture) layer and the other is the shape. Changing the color in the mask layer changes the color of the image layer without messing up the image layer.

I get the terminology confused... I forget if the color layer masks the image layer, or if the image layer is the mask for the color layer. Regardless, the function is the same.

This makes replacing colors (or creating the red/green/etc templates for ootp jerseys) much easier.

In answer to your question of where is the left panel... its in the bottom (the white) layer. if you hide the green layer, then your full front jersey is your white layer. The green layer (in combination with the white layer) just allows you to create a dual colored jersey.

My explaination isn't nearly complete, but I hope it helps a bit.

Thank you. I understand.

One more question.

When I try to use side-panels there is a tiny little strip that separates the side panel from the front panel. I have been unable to figure out how to color it short of using a pen.

A tiny little strip huh? I cant picture how that would look. Could it be attached to the Left Jersey panel? or are you talking about something different?

when I have issues, I locate the Layer that the offending image is on and I either delete it from the layer or I cut it out and paste it to its own layer or I merge it with another layer, then mask the entire layer so that I can apply a single color to the whole layer.

Oh I see. Those are intentional and they are either merged into that layer, or they have their own seperate layer. When you hide the layer, do both the green and red go away?

I started with this:

and simply cropped with crop tool to get this:

Attachment 268677

How do I "insert" ...uh...word art or text.

Do I do this in power point then crop the power point screenshot down then add as a layer?

Or is there something much simpler?

Also If I wanted to put a layer of fireworks or bombing as a background layer how do I blend that logo (above) when I put it on top of an explosion or fire or something?

I resized to 300x300, then cut out, pasted into new image, then resized back down to 150x150... Don't know if thats what you were trying to do or not...
