Some background info I found that might interest you...
317th Engineer Battalion (317th Engr Bn) The "Buffalo Battalion" Logo or Insignia Design approved: January 1943 The horizontal band is the heraldic representation of a military belt or girdle of honor. The crosses pick and shovel symbolize the function of the organization. The battle honors awarded the unit for service during World War I are represented by the Lorraine cross (Lorraine 1918) and the oak tree (Meuse-Argonne_ taken from the oaks of the Argonne forest. Motto: “By Industry and Honor” Campaigns: World War I 1918, Meuse-Argonne; World War II- North Apennines, Po Valley, Rome-Arno, Armed Forces Expeditions- Saudi Arabia, Kuwait |

Thanks for that background info, Tx! I just love hearing stories about teams that seem "lost" in baseball history. BTW The unis and logos look great!

I also found a photo of this team from the Great Lakes Naval Station located near North Chicago, IL. The interesting thing about this photo is the Great Lakes also had a white team which was led by several HOF's including Bob Feller. Whenever you have a chance, I would love a uni and logo of this team. Not sure about the color. I have seen a jersey of the Great Lakes white team which can be found at Ebbets Field Flannels.

I can do the one from the Ebbets page if you want, but I can't make out anything in this photo... It is just to small to read...

OOTP community,
I am looking for a Cap, Jersey, and Logo for this military team. 24th U.S. Infantry Baseball Club (Army). I have attached a picture. This team played in the Phillipines and included a 15 year old Oscar Charleston!! Use whichever colors you see fit. Thanks in advance! |
