The Cardinals #15 entry on the list saying they adopted the two birds on a bat in 1922 "shortly after they changed their name from the Browns"
uhhh... the AL team were the Browns since 1902 at this point and the Cardinals hadn't went by that since the 1890s as far as know. I'd say 20+ years is a stretch to use the term shortly. Unless I am wrong about my knowledge of their nickname. |
