Fictional Uniforms -- Yours for the Taking!

Hey All,

For years now I've relied on the other modders for my uniform and logo needs. Thanks to justafan, most of us are able to create (or try to, at least) our own unique sets of jerseys, caps, and logos. I've been messing around with his programs for a few days now and I'm going to use this thread to post some of the designs I come up with. Most of what I post will be used in a fictional league that I've recently updated. I've badgered Tx and Knuckler with requests in the past so I'm hoping that I can lighten their load a bit.

Just wanted to thank all the modders for their contributions. They've changed the game for me.

Here's my first shot:

In my fictional league the Colonels migrated from Louisville to Charlotte shortly after the Second World War. Having found moderate success in Louisville, (4 Continental League Pennants, 2 National Series Championships), the move to Charlotte has been less than satisfactory. From 1950-1963 the Colonels never finished above .500. They showed some promise in '64, finishing 50-50 but then spiraled into 7 consecutive last place finishes. By 1977, the Colonels were finally showing promise, finishing exactly at .500 for the second time in 27 seasons. It would take three more years for the Colonels to finally post a winning season, though as we enter 1990, they've still not sniffed the postseason since bolting from Louisville.

Charlotte Colonels 1950s

These are the uniforms that Charlotte wore during the 1950s in my fictional league. I found the logo somewhere in the forums.

One more Charlotte set:

Here's the final set of unis I made for Charlotte. I used them for the late 70s right up through most of the 80s.

Update

I've never been happy with the 1950s away jersey so I made some changes this morning. Still not sure if I like it but here it is anyway.

Any chance you could make some Louisville Colonels sets?

Elizabeth to Newark to Denver

As the NBO gained mainstream attention, small independent leagues sprung up all over the country. In Newark, New Jersey, the City League gained momentum throughout the 1930s. Six teams from Newark proper competed with clubs from the surrounding areas. Though the league began on Broad Street with the foundation of the Newark Broad Masons, it was a team from Elizabeth that captured the hearts of the city.

Founded by a small group of ruffians from Eaton Street, the Elizabeth club made Warinanco Park their home. It was here that the Eatons would run the table on the City League, capturing the City Championship for six consecutive seasons; first pummeling the Linden Athletics before dismantling the Newark Broad Masons five times in succession.

Obviously, this didn't sit well with the ball clubs from Newark, and in 1939 the best players from the six Newark teams challenged the Eatons to a best-of-five "friendly" series. Elizabeth embarrassed the stars from Newark, winning the first game easily: 7-0. The Stars struck first in the early stages of game 2, taking a 3-0 lead into the top of the 5th before the wheels fell off. Elizabeth catcher/manager, Frank Farrel started the inning with a triple. Two pitches later, the Eatons were down by a run. By the time the half-inning was over, Elizabeth had taken a 14-3 lead. By the middle of the 7th, the Eatons extended their lead five more times. The game was called due to darkness with the Elizabeth Eatons winning the game by a score of 21-3. Tempers ran hot for the third game, coming to a head in the top of the 8th when Newark pitcher Sam Richardson buzzed Frank Farrel. Farrel rose to his feet and the two men exchanged words before exchanging blows for nearly 30 minutes. The baseball game had turned into a boxing match. Finally exhausted, both men shook hands and tipped their caps to an uproarious crowd. Farrel belted the next pitch into deep center field and rounded the bases for the first run of the game. Again, the flood gates opened, and again the Eatons were victorious, this time taking the decisive game by a final score of 8-2.

This saga is far from over, but I'll pause here to post the uniforms worn by the Elizabeth Eatons during the grudge series with the Newark Stars:

Newark Bells

WWII saw the City League come to an abrupt end, but after the war's conclusion, the NBO (the MLB of my fictional world) began to consider expanding the league. Newark, backed by the Bell Atlantic Telephone Company, had the funds for a ballpark and successfully commissioned the league for entry. Ex-Elizabeth Eaton star, Frank Farrel, was selected to pilot the inaugural club.

After three miserable seasons, the Newark Bells rose from the depths of the division in 1953, capturing their first of three Federal League Pennants. By 1960, the Bells were twice champions.

Still not finished with this story but I promise I'll make it to Denver at some point. First, here are Newark's NBO originals:

Denver Alpines

Having expanded into the NBO's Federal League in 1950, no one expected the Newark Bells to taste immediate success. By 1960, they had captured two championships; the first in 1956 and the second in 1959. Although the product on the field at Broad Street Park was full of talent, attendance began to fall steadily as televised baseball began to work it's way into the home. Newark was a winning team but their hated rivals, the New York Gothams and the Brooklyn Atlantics, were rooted deep into the NBO's history, and together with their modern ballparks, they monopolized the New York Metro Area's fan base.

Broad Street Park was already falling down when it opened it's doors for NBO fans in 1950. Upon expanding into the league, the stipulation was such that team ownership would fund the building of a modern ball park within the clubs first ten years of inclusion. Years of in-fighting among the majority holders stalled these plans and eventually the league threatened to sue the club for breach of contract. It soon became apparent that Newark could no longer support a professional baseball club. In the spring of 1969, the Bells were sold to a Colorado business mogul. With the move looming over them for the season's entirety, Newark stumbled out of the gates and never recovered, finishing at 34-66, their worst season since expanding into the league. A year later, the Denver Alpines were born.

Here are the uniforms worn by Denver during the 1970s. I don't have much to say about the franchise in terms of history. They've been pretty mediocre for 20 years--zero pennants, zero championships.

Another Denver Set

The Denver Alpines were one of the most successful teams in one of my older fictional leagues. I wasn't really active on the mod boards back then, so I've taken the liberty to create a few different sets. I guess these unis could be used for the 1950s or 1960s.

Enjoy!

My dad grew up in Elizabeth so I've heard plenty of stories about the neighborhood baseball rivalries. I like to use OOTP to bring things like that to life. Glad you liked it.

Those are so cool. Gonna use these for my ABF league. i'll have Denver as an expansion city in 1969 along with Seattle.

Glad you like them. I have a few more Denver uniforms to finish up and then I'm going to start working on those Louisville kits.

Denver Alpines Base Ball Club

Decided to turn the clocks back and mess around with the "Import Layer" option in justafan's software. Here are some old Denver Alpines uniforms. Originally, this team was founded as the Alpine Lodge Base Ball Club. Later, they became the Alpine Base Ball Club; then the Denver Base Ball Club; and finally--the Denver Alpines.

Maybe someone with actual talent can rework the logos.

Denver Alpines 1990s

I'm about to begin the 1990 season in my fictional league and these are the uniforms that the Denver Alpines will wear. I don't think they'll ever wear the alternates but I wanted to include a really ugly 90's jersey. I guess I should have put pinstripes on the away uniform too...that was an ugly 90s trend...
