National Team Uniforms

I am working on creating some national team uniforms for one of my OOTPB universes. I thought that I should post them here to give back to the community that I have taken so much great stuff from over the years. This is the first time I have tried to create my own uniform sets. I am not an amazing graphic designer by any means, but the editing suite that justafan posted has made this much easier than I expected it to be. I have tested these out and they seem serviceable so far, but I welcome all comments and criticism.

First up is a set for the year-end 2014 IBAF world #24 and recent winner of the West Asia Baseball Cup, Pakistan:

These are based on some images from the Pakistan Baseball Federation's Facebook page taken during the West Asian Baseball Cup held in February of this year. They are fairly similar to Pakistan's cricket uniforms. Pakistan is the highest-ranked nation that has not appeared in the World Baseball Classic. Hopefully, the team will be invited to qualify for the 2017 version.

Argentina (IBAF #28):

Images of Argentina's baseball team are hard to come by. Interestingly, they opt for a dark blue rather than the powder blue found on Argentina's flag and worn by the more accomplished national soccer team.

Next up, Sri Lanka (IBAF #31):

Like Pakistan, Sri Lanka is a cricket country whose baseball team has had decent results in regional tournaments. As with the others, I am not able to do an exact recreation of the team's uniform, so some concessions had to be made. For example, Sri Lanka's uniform has a thin stripe running along both sides of the jersey. Unable to do this in the editor, I instead gave them underarm stripes to approximate the side stripes.

IBAF #32 Russia keeps it simple with a clean white-and-red mesh jersey:

Russia's jersey actually only has two top buttons (like a polo shirt) and features a yellow symbol on the sides of its ballcap. I was not able to discern what the black logo on the front of the ballcap was supposed to be, so I inserted Russia's old federation logo there instead which looks similar enough to my eyes. Below is an alternative Russian logo with the old federation logo in center, which I personally prefer to the new one:

Here's Aruba, currently ranked world #48. However, that ranking is a bit deceptive since players from Aruba compete for the Netherlands in the major international tournaments.

Curacao is currently #37 in the IBAF rankings. Like Aruba, its players represent the Dutch team rather than Curacao for major tournaments. Thus, its IBAF ranking does not reflect the considerable amount of baseball talent that Curacao produces (it has more MLB players per capita than any other nation in the world, with one major leaguer for every 21,000 residents).

Here are some alternate / away jerseys for some of the teams above. I have not found any other jerseys for Aruba, so they are stuck with the one.

Greece

Greece (IBAF #42) relies primarily on American-born players of Greek ancestry to fill out its roster. The team has intermittently managed solid results in the European Baseball Championship.

Iran

Iran (IBAF #49) finished second in the 2015 West Asia Baseball Cup. The team's primary uniform color was recently changed from sky blue to red.

India

India's baseball team is not very good. In the 2015 West Asia Baseball Cup, India was defeated by Iran 15-0 (Iran subsequently lost to Pakistan 12-0). On the plus side, India is an international powerhouse in cricket.

Belgium

Although not as accomplished as its Dutch neighbor, Belgium's national team has a proud history. It has earned the fourth-most medals in the European Baseball Championship (following the Netherlands, Italy, and Spain), with its last being a bronze in 1995.

Guam

Considering its size, US territory Guam has a fairly strong baseball tradition. Guam's baseball team has won several gold medals in Pacific islands competition.

Northern Mariana Islands

Northern Mariana Islands has a similar baseball history as Guam, making them natural rivals. The two tend to alternate victories in the Pacific / Oceania competitions that Australia does not participate in.

The 'C' in the uniform abbreviations stands for "Commonwealth," for those wondering.

Honduras

Soccer is king in IBAF #41 Honduras, but baseball has a following too.

Guatemala

Guatemala once produced a reasonable amount of baseball talent and even had a professional league in the '70s that was able to attract talent from other Central American countries. Now, baseball has fallen on hard times due to a lack of youth interest. Even so, Guatemala has managed to field a team in several recent tournaments in the Americas.

The team's decision to use Guatemala's IOC abbreviation on their jerseys could lead to mass confusion if they ever play Guam's national team.

Indonesia

Indonesia (IBAF #38) is currently hosting the East Asia Baseball Cup and is performing admirably at 3-1 with one game to play.

Scotland

Since Out of the Park Baseball divides the United Kingdom into its constituent countries, I had to create a fictitious Scottish national team (based on the uniforms of their soccer team). Fun fact: the Edinburgh Diamond Devils are the largest club team in the UK.

Uganda

I wanted another African team alongside South Africa. As you could probably guess, baseball is not a popular sport in Africa and--aside from South Africa--African teams rarely compete in international tournaments. An exception to this is the recent success that Uganda has enjoyed in the Little League World Series. Hopefully in another decade or so, Uganda will emerge as a continental baseball power to rival South Africa. These uniforms are based on Uganda's national cricket team.

Hong Kong

Hong Kong is the highest ranked team I haven't done yet and seems to produce enough talent in my games to sustain a national team. The uniforms are based on the ones the team wore during this year's East Asia Baseball Cup, where Hong Kong underachieved a bit and placed fourth.
