I-95 Baseball League by Clemente21

I have put aside my other project for a little while and decided to make a league called the Interstate 95 Baseball League. Why call it so? It's based around Interstate 95 because:
1) I live really close to the I-95 Highway.
2) I recently took a road trip along a large portion of I-95 and wish to create something to help me remember the trip.
3) I need a league with real cities rather than fictional cities.

The league will be relatively small due to the fact that while I-95 does go through many cities, not all of them are able to support a baseball team and I would like AAA and AA leagues as well. This league shall exist in a world without MLB and will have jerseys, caps, and some logos of my own creation. Feel free to use my work in your own leagues, just please reference my work if you choose to publish your own dynasty report or something similar. Additionally, if you have any team name or color ideas, please let me know and I will try to incorporate your advice.

The current set-up is as follows. Please be aware that it may change as time goes by.

Northern Division/League:
Boston Bulldogs/Colonials/Blizzard/Serpents?
Providence Bees - post #3
New York City Imperials - post #9
Philadelphia Founders
Wilmington Guardians

Southern Division/League:
Baltimore Blue Crabs - post #2
D.C./Washington? Monuments/Senators?
Richmond Revolutionaries?
Jacksonville Gators
Miami Divers?

And finally your league logo:

Baltimore Blue Crabs

First up: Baltimore Blue Crabs

Origin of Name:
The Chesapeake blue crab is the symbol of Maryland and a food that is eaten very often in the state. Baltimore is "an important hub of the crab industry" according to wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Culture_of_Baltimore) and the largest city in Maryland. I-95 conveniently passes right through the city.

Origin of Colors:
Blue is a color found in blue crabs. Bet you didn't know that. Black and yellow are found in the city's flag. The yellow in my set is a more lemony version of the flag's yellow, but I like this color scheme. I found the blue and yellow shades from illeracula's epic Christiana Blue Hens set and then added black as the third team color. If you have any objection to this illeracula, just let me know.

I hope you all enjoy!
As you can see, I've enjoyed messing with Arizona's new snakeskin pattern that ericjaffe recently added to his online jersey maker. I recommend you check it out since it is fantastic.

Providence Bees

Next team: Providence Bees

Origin of Name:
Providence, Rhode Island is known as the "Beehive of Industry"

Origin of Colors:
A bumblebee is black and yellow and white. I like to think that the snakeskin pattern on the uniforms is actually a honeycomb pattern.

The font is SF Sports Night Upright. Honorable_Pawn uses it in his Legends set and I found it while searching for sports fonts. It truly is a great font. I hope you enjoy!

I dig the Baltimore jerseys, and it's a neat concept for a league. Nice work! One thought, though: I-95 hits a couple more major cities between Richmond and Jacksonville (Fayetteville, NC, and Savannah, GA). Maybe it's worth including one or both of them too, to give you a bit of continuity between Virginia and Florida?

Thanks for the comment! I skipped a couple big cities in between Florida and DC for a few reasons. First of all, I need to save a couple cities for future expansion points and many more cities for minor league teams. Additionally, the way the divisions worked out led me to dropping a couple southern cities. I have a list of about 25 cities in order of population sizes to use and with 10 in the majors I am left with about 15 to assign minor league teams and expansion teams to. If you have any naming ideas for teams or stadiums, let me know, because I'll need a lot of help to assign good realistic names to the teams.

Thanks again for the comment, I hope to release a couple more teams this weekend so keep an eye out!

For Richmond, what about the Revolutionaries? A lot of the Founding Fathers were from Virginia, and that's where Patrick Henry made his famous declaration, "Give me liberty or give me death!"

Another idea you can feel free to discard if it's dumb: you could put your Washington, D.C., team in Alexandria, Va., and call it the Defenders (after the Department of Defense, which has a huge presence in Northern Virginia). NoVa gets neglected so much, it'd be nice for it to have a baseball team!

New York Imperials

Next: The New York Imperials

Origin of Name:
The city of New York is titled "The Empire City" due to its prominence in the United States and around the world. There are also such things as empire apples and New York City is also known as "The Big Apple". Imperial is an adjective that means magnificent and majestic and "of or relating to an empire" according to the dictionary.

Origin of Colors:
I really like maroon as a color for the team because it screams royalty. Furthermore, I chose to only use one color for the Imperials due to the Yankees ability to pull off the one-color look quite well.

Sources of Inspiration:
I regularly scan Chris Creamer's sportslogos.net and discovered the concepts forum there about a year ago. Its safe to say that I have been heavily inspired by the work that goes on over there. With that being said, I got the New York Imperials name from Veras' History of a Fictional Football League and as you can see, I quite liked it. Additionally, the base baseball diamond background for my logo was created around miltonANDlumbergh's Las Vegas Lights in his fictional baseball league called the PCBA.

I hope you all enjoy!
