Custom Name Files
First of all, thanks for writing up the customization manual, Steve and raidergoo.
Second....So I understand there's no limitations on country sets, cities, etc. But there is for namesets, right? That is, there is a limit for 40 nationalities? Now it seems to me, that if one wanted to do an ambitious nameset, the obvious thing to do is to backup the existing one, rename it, and simply start from scratch (maybe copy and paste some from the old). Obviously, these name sets would have to match up to countries, but does there need to be 40 sets? Can you just have one, or a handful, or a dozen...?

There is a total limit of 40 name sets. Ambitious name set modders will have to delete existing name sets to add multiple new ones of their own. Does their need to be 40? Not really, but recall that nations.txt and the name sets are related. If you change name set 32 to Vulcan, you will have a bunch of guys named Spock born in Toronto. |
