Can player photos still be assigned by player numbers?

In past versions player photos could be randomly assigned by the "p#.bmp".
Converted my photos to jpg and the named players show up fine however the
P#.jpg photos do not. Has the player number system changed? How do we assign photos to fictional players? We certainly don't have to name each photo to get pictures in the game, do we?

If the player numbers have changed (mine is a converted 6.5 league) how do we find the new players numbers? Perhaps this is easy and I'm missing it

found the answer. photos now named

player_###.jpg

and also a problem to put it in the tech department here..
