I think it would be more realistic to put him on Houston and put him injured for the amount of days he was out. The reason I say this is he intended to go to Houston the whole time, in his head anyway :P Reason #2 is that most likely if the in-game Dodgers sign him it's going to be for less than what Houston is paying him

I don't disagree that he wished to go to Houston the whole time, but if that time period was played out again and again, who is to say some variable wouldn't arise that would make him change his mind?

I downloaded the Lehman DB and loaded year 2005 and used all of mlb logo's and worked like a charm. The problem with the Lehman DB is that it does not load the current managers and some star players are in the minors. For e.g. I chose white sox and Scott Posednik and Aron Rowand were in the Minors. This is not true to real life so please test your rosters. I'm willing to help or participate in making this a gem.

Also will your rosters contain all current staff members?.

much appreciated. Baseball fan from Australia.
Don't worry I have been playing around with the Lahman db since OOTP3. We are making sure that the players are rated appropriately and on the roster level they belong at prior to release. Testing will take place as well.

The intention is for the roster file to have current Opening Day staff members.

3 That is the plan

Well I mean, that's kind of poor reasoning in my opinion (no offense). I could use the same reason at any point in history. Why not leave A-Rod on the Rangers, because some variable COULD have left him there. Why not put Cabrera on the Cardinals, because they COULD trade for him. I guess that's the way I look at it, but I could be wrong :-P

Certainly I'm not trying to get into any fight here. No need to worry about offending, because this is a nice debate, IMO. But the reason why you put people anywhere as of the start of the 2006 season is because they were on those teams starting 4/1. But by 4/1, Clemens was no where. If you had this game and this roster set two months ago, would you have started Clemens out on the Astros?

Agreed. Clemens was not on any openning day roster, but if you dont agree, I believe it is ok to perform the signing yourself.

Of course. You are free to do as you wish. I am just stating what I believe to be the best course of action to take when trying to stay with realism as best as possible.

I don't think this situation is unlike the draft picks which will be selected today IRL. Would you start a season out with the draft picks already attached to teams, or would you do the draft over again yourself, allowing your own universe to dictate what happens?

For a set starting as of Opening Day, to keep "realism as best as possible" Clemens should be a free agent. That is, realistically, what he was.

I agree... FA! Give everyone an opportunity to sign Clemens and if someone who uses this roster-set wants him on Houston they can manually do it!

The only issue I see with placing Clemens as a FA is a team like Florida, Tampa, etc. could sign him when IRL there is a 0% chance of this happening...

Also, we're planning on putting draftees in short season and rookie ball potentially.

I'd say put him on the Astros but make him injured for 90 days. I personally thought it was no doubt that he would return to the Astros if he did come back. His son playing A ball for them was the indicator.

Definitely. That's the main problem. He wasn't going anywhere but Houston anyway. NY, BOS, and TEX were just pawns.

I DO agree with it from this standpoint. I kind of see what you mean, leave him and let the people who download it do what they want. Makes sense.

I think that anyone who doesn't like where they decide to put him can move them to where they want him to be in about 30 seconds.

I don't agree. Draftable players could go anywhere...they have no say. Any team could sign them. Only Houston could've signed Clemens. It really is as if he was injured for May and April. There are three choices:

(1) Clemens is not in the set (with such a big impact on a team, I want him in the set)

(2) He's on the Astros in the set (everybody knew he was going there, and he did)

(3) He's in the set as a FA free for any team to sign (i don't understand the logic here, because since Florida has a lack of pitching and a ton of free money, they'll sign him every time. How realistic is that?)

As the final point, if you really want realism for an opening day set, Clemens should be on the Astros with a 90-day injury. Else, it wouldn't be realistic for any other team to sign him.

It seems to me that this should not be big worry. The fact is that when they are done they will not be perfect anyway, we have beat to death the fact that Clemems is a HUGE issue to some. I just want them to be finished so I can bring some realism to the game. I can't dig in at all with the players I have never heard of. It takes the fun out of the game. We can fix the minor problems later.

I do appreciate all the work that goes into the roster sets and I want to thank everyone who has worked on it.

I don't see how you could say that it is more realistic that Clemens is on the 60day DL for the Astros. As of April 1, 2006 (which is the date of the roster set), Clemens was a FREE AGENT.

As a matter of fact, if the Astros in this game where to sign Clemens, I highly doubt it would be anywhere near $22million for one year.

So...I hope he is a free agent.
