Q for Rolen's Rosters
How could Chris Singlton be a FA at the beginning of the 2006 season in Rolen's roster set, when he was the White Sox radio color man for the 2006 season? Lol

How is he not a free agent then? I don't see him playing for a team, therefore by definition he would be free to sign with any other team to play, you know kind of like when Kurt Warner was bagging groceries

Also, if he didn't officially announce his retirement than he is technically still a FA. Not sure if he ever filed the official paperwork.

Well contractually speaking, since he's probably not working for free from the radio booth, he probably signed some sort of contract making him the radio color man, thus removing him the FA "pool".

I would be willing to bet that if he were offered a contract to play major league baseball again there would be no problem getting out of the color man job.

Being a White Sox fan, I think in real life Singleton is happy with his new job and doesn't have any desire to resume his playing days. With that said though, this isn't real life, so I don't see the big deal of Chris Singleton in the FA pool. He was a marginal every day player, hardly someone that would change the power in MLB.

When a certain ex-Mets' manager who shall remain nameless signed a two year contract with ESPN, he had no problem getting out of it to go manage in Japan, where he belongs.
