1. Pop Lloyd is pre 1920 - I am still working on those a bit
2. Played to age 48 which drags his average average down. A 48 year old Pop Lloyd wouldn't have hit much in the majors most likely. I am trying to determine a major league career cut off date for these guys. I think I'll base it on when their OPS plummets rather than just a standard age as some of them were pretty good for a pretty long time. 3. Age 25 to 32 he hits close to .300 or over in my test sim. Finishes with a .273 overall average because he retires at 32 (started at 21) and so his averages didn't get dragged down by playing old. All that being said I think pre-1920's negro players need a boost to their ratings in general and I think I'll address that today. |

Changes Maid to some batting formulas
A major league Pop Lloyd hits around .215 ages 21-23, .320's and 330's until age 32, .250's ages 33 to 44, and .350 45 to 48. This follows the same curve path his real career took.
I'd probably cut him off at age 35 or so as his skills declined rapidly around then which would increase his overall average to around .300. Otherwise I could leave him in and he could play in the minors until age 48 which in reality he sorta did. Personally I think it would be cool to have him in my minors for next to forever but I'm taking votes. Also his low averages from ages 21 to 23 put him my minors but with good potential ratings. He hit .340 in AA and .284 and then .278 in AAA those years before hitting .296 his first year in the bigs. Keep in mind these stat lines are approximations of what the player would do in the major leagues at that age, he might tear up the minors at that age even though his ML equivalents would be such that he just isn't good enough to play there just yet. This db is major league 750 run environment equivilancies only. Everyone is equivalent. Hate to say this but I had forgotten to include a query in the final db run. This is why the negro league batters came out so low. I had fixed this months ago but just forgot to include it in the final. I still think pre-1920's need more work as my test db did have this update included and I still thought they seemed a tiny bit low. |

Too many players retire 'no matter what' after a certain point in the game. Ive had Cy Young call it quits after a OOTP 25-3 season (1903). Thats a whole lotta wins short. They only way I can get him to 1911 is freeze his age for a while. So I don't think Pops would make it even with the additional stats.
I know I wanted to try and create a database of only players who had 10 years (or more) of ML experience, then take a number of years (out of the middle of their history) to create the players career. Maybe NL players would be even years and AL players would be odd years. This game is just too much fun.......and one of these day's I will make it past 1920.

Ver 2.1 is at all sim baseball
After beer review grr I meanr peer review it will be downloadable.
Contains these additions 1. Changed FieldingOF to allow better usage of outfielders. 2. Changed debut age to 22 where it is not known due to lack of birth year. 3. Added debuts and final game info for players from 1800's as much of that was missing. 4. Set league abbrev for Union Association 1884, Players League 1890, Federal League 1914-1915 to NL 5. Fixed the missing formula concerning negro and japanese players that some fool (me!) left out of build 0. 6. Changed Games Played for pitchers where the formulas created too many games played to get to 200 AB minimum. (resulting in a goofy games played leaderboard) I also included the back dated Luke Easter (age 22) and Connie Marrero (age 27). For Ver 2.2 I plan on adding other back dated players like Jackie Robinson and the Asian players like Ichiro. Plus adjusting any more things that need adjusting. |

"Changes Maid to some batting formulas" Is that anything like Minute Maid or Meter Maid?
Just wondering. Looking forward to getting the next version (2.1) and starting the "New History of Baseball v22". By v50 I might make it past the 1920 season.

I found it. Seems that Spritze uploaded it under OOTP 2006. I moved it and you should see version 2.1 now.

First comments on 2.x version.
Negro leaguers are melding in a bit better, Rube (Foster) now overpowers for a few years, then levels out. Actually too many "K's" for the time period, but it's a-lot better then his quick exits with little playing time in previous versions. Overall, the Negro Leaguers 1901-1920 will be leaders but will not dominate year after year (except for Foster for a few years). Babe Ruth (the hitter) is not guaranteed the HR crown every year, but will still leave his mark.

Where can I find the latest version of the db?
Also does anyone know what file I modify to make sure I have the correct teams in the correct leagues for historical accuracy if I am trying to create a modified condensed league.?? |

Leroy "Satch" Paige imports as a First Baseman in the latest verison. Game never sees him as a pitcher.

Just make sure you add it to an already existing Lahman set of files. It only contains 5 altered csv files, the rest of the ones you need are the normal Lahman ones.

Mr. Garlon
I think we might need Mr. Lahmans permission to alter his work and post it on a web site. It would be the polite thing to do.
