Nice, I definately would have forgotten about that, I'll be honest.

Also probably adding guys from the top five rounds of the draft that weren't in teams top ten prospects already from the '07 draft.

Note also that Baseball Prospectus is just about finished with top 11 prospect lists for AL teams, so you could get all MLB prospects done.

I haven't tried the latest version of the set, but in the first version, a lot of fictional players take over the prospect lists very quickly- often 1-star prospects become 4-star guys because of OOTP's development engine. Also there were several 1-star fictional closers in the set who become 4-star-potential guys if you change their position to MR. I think the set would be improved if the fictional guys were deleted.

I can't get a generic set of 2006 ballparks to work with this set. I put them in the general data/ballparks section. They are all named individually for each stadium and are in JPG format -

Do I need to put them in your folder in my data/saved games section

thanks all.

I thought about doing that, but quite honestly you'll have fictional players in the league as soon as the June draft anyway and on most of the teams with fictional players, they have them because one of the lower level teams needed them to fill them with enough players. Otherwise I definitely would delete them, but for now I'm going to leave them all in.

Also in the same vein though, I was thinking about tweaking the modifier that randomly changes talent. I remember I shifted it perhaps last year and it ended up working out well. Has anyone messed with this at all? Don't want to just randomly do it, but if there has been any results out there, let me know.

The second time I played through the set, I rescheduled the draft to December, and shortened it to one round, and tried to delete as many fictional guys as I could. With ghost players on, the set runs perfectly, and you have mostly real players for many seasons- plays very well for almost a decade. With fictional players mixed in, after three years or so it becomes like playing a fictional solo league.

I'm curious if anyone else has noticed one of the mysterious OOTP bugs with this set- Craig Anderson, minor league SP with Baltimore, never plays a game. I've simmed a dozen seasons, he's made it to the Majors, the AI inserts him in the rotation every year, and he never pitches. I've seen the bug reported months ago, about a different pitcher in a different roster set, but had never seen it until now.

Injure him for 15 days then see what happens, that worked for me when this bug came up.

Nice- that does work, thanks. There's one other pitcher in the set with the same problem- a minor leaguer- but I can't remember who; noticed it a couple of weeks ago and forgot to make a note of the name.

Wow, just now starting to realize how screwy some of the minor league ratings are, I'm going through team-by-team and fixing them all right now, knocking down the overrated guys and fixing the top ten lists. Should be a much improved next release as far as prospects go.

Sounds awesome- look forward to the new release. The biggest problem I noticed was with the fictional players who were set to be closers; many are rated as having 1-star potential, but because the game rates closers against other closers, many of them have the potential to be well above average relievers in the Majors. Some teams have a few of these guys, while others don't, which skews the quality of the minor league systems- i.e. some teams have a lot of prospects (all fictional) who could make up a good part of a big league bullpen.

Is there a photo set that'll work with this roster set?

Updated photopack is included. I also downloaded an old OOTP6 minor league photopack, so I'll be releasing the photopack separate with the next release but it should be pretty comprehensive.

How do you change the settings to allow scouts to be hired? I am using Cubby's rosters and I want to have scouts for the draft but there are no scouts in my personnel and when I try to hire one it says No Positions Available.

Do you have to do this for all of the minor leagues as well or just the MLB?

Go to Game -- Game Setup -- and under Game Options check the box next to Use Complete Scouting System. This file is setup to work with scouts as well unlike previous versions.

Mike -- you should just have to have the MLB enabled to do it. I did that and had no problems like we had before (disappearing players).

I'm done with the NL completely re-rating the top prospects, killing the ratings of guys who aren't even prospects (but who were rated too well), and deleting some of the fake players. They aren't all gone, but anyone who is remotely good in the previous set and is fake is gone. I also changed the Canadian players to be from Canada (), added roster moves, changed the photos of guys on new teams (Silva, etc.) and re-rated some of the guys who were overrated like Jack Cust.

I think after this version, the final version will be focused on fine-tuning the MLB and AAA ratings for players as most of them are based on just one year. I'm not sure what I'm going to use, but probably a combination of career averages, and the last three years of performance, possibly with PECOTA tossed in as well for MLB guys (I hate using PECOTA for young guys, it usually is off).

Not sure on a time table, but I have the entire NL done with prospects, and I just have five more teams to do in the AL. After that I'm going to just touch up a few things, re-rate some of the FA's who are too good, play around with salary demands for FA's just a tad, and release the file.

Thanks for the updates Cubby. I agree that PECOTA is not the way to go with prospects. I don't know why but every year they seem egregiously inflated for players who haven't reached the majors or just have smattering of at bats. The important thing about prospects is that their Potential is more important than their current ratings. Don't put too much time into drilling out prospects current ratings--just make sure their ratings put them at the right organizational level. Best to you.

In a similar regard I think you have Derrick Turnbow from Union City California but he's from Union City, Tennessee.
