My conclusion now, after playing with it a few times, is that you have to have the ghost players. It makes some sense, since teams are likely to have an imbalance of pitchers and fielders at the low end of the minors, so there has to be way of balancing that out in order for the two single A teams to play from the beginning of the season.

1. In my first league, my second season had a draft class of all 16 and 17 year olds. Is the solution to this problem to just turn off age restrictions? Or to set it older?

2. I just finished the first-year draft in my second league. Before the draft, both of my rookie league teams had no roster. After, one was full, the other only had pitchers. I could not advance to the next say since another organization (Cardinals, I'm Dodgers) did not have any players on its roster. How do I fix this so teams have full rosters...more rounds in the draft? Enabling/disabling ghost players?

3. Finally, a more general question. Is there a prevailing preference amongst the community using this roster set about using coaching/scouting or not? I love the scouting concept, but feel that it's very easy to sign coaches and managers with amazing attributes. Doing this would seemingly give me an unfair advantage over the AI.

Thanks in advance for any insight into these issues.
1) I turned off the age restrictions and got accurate players. I think that's a good fix.

2) Not really sure.

3) I play with scouting off definitely. I just think this aspect of the game is so poorly done that it ruins the fun. Coaching I also leave off as I think it gives myself too much of an advantage.

I've played both with and without scouting with the set, I don't think there's any problems there anymore, you should be able to do it either way.

Got a little sidetracked packing (moving again!) but I'm back to editing MLB coaches, hope to have a newer set out with those correct and the ages problem fixed shortly.

Does anyone know if there's any possible way to edit manager histories (W/L?)

I've tried to find a way to edit those in the past but was unable to. I made a post on the main forum that hopefully someone will help with. My gut says that no, unless there is some weird utility I've yet to hear about.

Sorry to pester you, but have you figured out the issue with the Soriano bug? And is there a way to either delete him and re-create him without causing any trouble? I've tried it but everytime I re-upload the rosters I get an error.

Well, I did some study of the Triple A All-Star game in July.

As mentioned before Barbaro Canizares needs to be in this roster. He played in that game, so he must have something

Osvaldo Navarro is missing a photo thanks to you have misssspelled it with that single v, itīs Oswaldo ....

Chris Barnwell played in the Triple A ALL-star game, but you got him in Rookie league GCL Marlins. I think you should rerate him perhaps and put him up a couple of levels. He played most time for the Albuquerque Isotopes.
Minor League Baseball: Stats: Player

So now to some more missing that played in this All-Star. They just must be added and be good enough ...

Jeremy Cummings
Minor League Baseball: Stats: Player

Rich Rundles
Minor League Baseball: Stats: Player

Hope you get this boys into this roster...

That editing the managers is surely not possible. I have tried and asked too. Sad thing...

Going to give it a shot on this new roster.

Does anyone know an easy all-in-one place to find info on Minor League managers (vitals mainly, birthdate and birthplace).

Would like to add them all in as well.

I'm planning on clearing the coaches free agent pool (thank the lord you can finally do this!) and adding in as many "real" free agent coaches as possible including guys who are on ML coaching staffs in real life not represented in game (base coaches, bullpen coaches, etc.). Possibly a few players who recently retired who have a shot to manage eventually.

Would like to finally be able to represent the proper world scenario where hiring and firing coaches should not be easy, and some of it would be done within the organization.

The best I've seen is:

Minor League Baseball: Home

Doesn't give birthplace, but I'm not sure there is a site that has that all in one place. That should give you the manager, pitching coach, and hitting coach of every minor league team, along with a lot of their vitals.

how about all Retired people as on Personal Free-Agent Market because Unretirement option is not available yet in the game?
How about Frontier/Northern and so on League in it?
Chis Barnwell might have played in the Triple-A All-Star Game but this Roster set is as of Opening Day not today.

Oops a pitcher in the Future All-Star game went missing.

Fernando Salas
Minor League Baseball: Stats: Player

Do hope you could clear out that coaches pool and make the retired players that really are coaching and managing on all levels. A power work, and do hope you can add the guys I found missing.

Still figuring on all those photos I have collected. Do think they are a little more than the present and they are both minor leaguers and MLB.

Still need to see that "final" roster for special name changes like Aaron Cook and Aaron L Cook for the TWo Cooks in the game.
Aaron Cook in Colorado
Aaron L Cook in the Angels organizations

We still got a massive mess with the Josh (Joshua, Joshua Nels, Joshua Rashaad, Josh) Johnson

Ramon A Ramirez in Reds, Ramon Bartolo Ramirez in DBacks and Ramon Ramirez in KC.

Orlando Mercado as a coach and Orlando Mercado that plays in Yakima

Hmm Steve Torrealba is not retired but playing I think
Minor League Baseball: Stats: Player

A bit biased perhaps but look at the Red Sox prospects
Red Sox Prospects* |* SoxProspects.com

Fine reading if not used for some fixing

I hope this hasn't been answered already, but I have a question. Well, maybe really 2 questions:

Is there any way to use this incredible set, but start the year in the offseason, (say Jan 1) so I can make trades, change scouting %s, have spring training, change other locked settings, not have the scheduling anomalies, etc.?

Or, is it possible by manipulating one or more files to start a new season, set it up like I want, remove all players and then just import the players from Cubby's set? Does that even make sense.

I guess I just want to play the game my way, but use all the wonderful work done by others. That's probably too much to ask!

I *think* you can open up Cubby's league and then save it as a template. Then, create a new game with the template. You should still have all of the rosters the same and the season will start on January 1. I don't know if the history saves with a template, however.

Well, he might have been playing in lower levels but not according to this
Chris Barnwell Statistics (Minor Leagues) - Baseball-Reference.com

I do trust baseball-reference and they have Barnwell to play only in AAA Albuquerque since the start. I was just thinking on moving him up a couple of levels from Rookie league since he did play in the majors in 2006 for Milwaukee.

albuquerquebaseball.com: Roster
canīt find any moves on Barnwell from the start of the season

2008 Florida Marlins Franchise Batting Stats and Depth - Baseball-Reference.com

no stats on Barnwell from 2008 in GCL Marlins
Minor League Baseball: Stats: Stats

that might cover this player, or did he slip by during spring training ?
To have him getting a shot a the All-Star he surely must be improved and moved up.

But be where your going to have to give a 10th team to the Arizona Fall League and Can't Expand or Fantasy Draft or so on that's Blackened out.
I will have a Roster Set out using this one with my Team Orlando being this years Free-Agent Market and also have my Drafted by Teams and another one league in it. The Free Agent Market in it will be full of people because I will be adding some of Templates and then deleting them becuase I would like to keep all the Leagues in it but then siming will take to long then also will start on 1-1-08.

Any hope for those missing guys ??

And of course more is digged up.
Yesterday a trade between Braves and Red Sox brought Luis Sumoza OF to the Braves for Mark Kotsay.
Luis Sumoza is missing in the version I have, so perhaps

Minor League Baseball: Stats: Player

I know he is only Single A, but getting involved in a trade with Mark Kotsay lifts the idea on him I think. But he is minor to the other guys I put up on this thread IMHO

Please check up if you got this guy retired.
He looks ready to me
Robinson Cancel

Perhaps even Ricardo Rincon should be unretired and in the FA pool. Played in Mexico but now popped up in New Orleans Zephyrs

A tiny bit of cleanup.

Melvin Dorta is both retired and in Altoona Curve. A deletion is in order.

You got Yurendell deCaster and Yurendell de Caster. I guess the retired one could be deleted.

Does anyone know how to fix the problem with the Staff Payroll line item in the Team financials. They are twice as high as they should be, given the total salaries for coaches. This appears to be systemic, since this doubling occurs in the Past Season financials and in the Current Season Overview for Staff Expenses.

Unless, of course, this is intentional, for some reason ...

Just noticed that Hanley Ramirez doesn't have any position ratings.
