Photo naming conventions

Sorry, but a few newbie questions. Can anyone help with the naming conventions used for some of the trickier player photos? For example, Cal Ripken Jr. - I've tried every possible combination of underscores, slashes, abbreviations, etc. and still can't get the photo to appear. Is it possible to name the files with player IDs so as to avoid this sort of thing entirely?

I think it should be

Cal_Ripken Jr..extension
