i haven't read through too many pages of this thread -- big thanks to cubby by the way -- by how have folks done with the cubs in this set? just curious... thanks...

I had a ridiculous amount of cash and the perfect team save for a shortstop, so in my fourth season I signed Jose Reyes to a 1 year 34 million dollar contract. That same offseason Milton Bradley and someone else just as absurd received four year contracts averaging 35 million dollars a year.

Its two years later and Prince Fielder just signed a five year 215 MILLION dollar contract, averaging about 43 million dollars a year.

In league setup super-star quality players are set up to earn about 17 million a year. Did I just set a horrible precedent with my Reyes signing or is this a glitch? The game is not as fun when all of my stars are asking for 24 million dollars to be resigned

The problem is what you said at the start of your post: you and I'm guessing other teams have ridiculous amounts of cash. Even if you have super-star players set to earn around $17M, free agents will see the stockpiles of cash on the balance sheet and adjust up their salary requests accordingly, seeing that you can afford more. Hence the really large deals you see. Your options are to cut the cash maximum or to restrict the revenue each team gets. Either should reduce free agent requests over time I would think.

Can someone walk me through step by step, how to load Cubbyfan's roster set? Do you have to open the file or just save it? Do you need to unzip it or not?

I've tried a few different tactics w/ no success. I'm using ootp verison 9 with all the latest patches.

BTW, which file is the latest? The one in the first post doesn't look like the final update, it has incorrect minor league systems for example...

I am new to ootp 9. i downloaded cubbyfan rosters to the ootp9 folder, i have no idea how to input them into the game. somebody please help me on what i do after i download them.

Go to My documents->Out of the Park Developments->saved_games.

Make sure all the files you unzip are in one map, and the map has .lg at the end of it's name.

Thanks for the help, I am able to play with the updated roster set now. I am using the ones from cubbyfans first page here, which was updated on March 3rd.

It seems to have every team correct w/ the exception of putting Alex Rodriguez on the cheater list for two months!

I saved the file into ootp-saved games. Then unzipped them and went to load games. It was there and finally worked. I can't imagine how long this took cubbyfan, this guy is dedicated.

For those of you wanting to see results from this set, here you go. These are the results for 5 seasons (all 2009) with this set.

Example 1: St. Louis defeated Boston in W.S.
Example 2: Arizona defeated Minnesota in W.S.
Example 3: New York (AL) defeated Atlanta in W.S.
Example 4: Tampa defeated Chicago (NL) in W.S.
Example 5: Philadelphia defeated New York (AL) in W.S.

As you can see the results were pretty variable with only the Yankees making it to the World Series more than once. Here are the standings and league leaders from the end of each season:

I'd be very interested to know if it's possible to incorporate the Japan, Korea and Taiwan databases into the CF database.....how difficult is it to do this? An earlier poster said that he had that DB - is it online somewhere?

Hey guys, I was wondering.

I started a season w/ the Mets on Cubbyfans roster set. Has anyone else had crazy offensive statistics during the first 15 games or so?

I'm guessing they will eventually level off but right now my entire starting 8 lineup is batting at least .320 and Beltran has hit 9 homers through 16 games.

I also noticed one other strange thing. I was playing St Louis and they have a player (can't think of his name right now) that's rated 117 power, and Pujols is rated only 79 power??

I'm not questioning the almighty cubbyfan but did I download a funky roster set??

If you play with the one that is in the first post of this topic i understand where your coming from. It doesn't seem like the latest set. Minor league systems are not right, player pictures are old, player ratings don't look updated...

This is absolutely no critisism because i really appreciate all the hard work that is put in these sets, but maybe Cubby mistakenly uploaded an old file?

It looks like it could be a tough year for Texas fans as the Rangers and Astros may finish last in their respective divisions. On the flip side of the coin, New Yorkers may end up being very happy as the Yankees and Mets may win both of their respective divisions.

Using the averaged results, the playoffs would see the Yankees face the Indians, the Rays vs the Athletics, the Mets vs Diamondbacks, and the Cardinals vs the winner of a Braves/Marlins playoff game.

During the 10 years, Tampa and St. Louis each won the World Series 2 times while the Yankees, Cleveland, Seattle, Florida, Philadelphia, and Arizona all won it once each.

The Hitter of The Year Award was won by Albert Pujols 4 times, and Ryan Howard, Ryan Braun and Hanley Ramirez 2 times each.

The Pitcher of The Year Award was won by Joba Chamberlain, Brandon Webb, Cole Hamels, Rich Harden and Max Scherzer (Arizona) 2 times each.
