What is the Spritze DB?
I know this is a basic question, but could somebody please explain to me what the difference is between the Spritze DB and the Lahman that comes with the game? Specifically I'm interested in differences involving the minor leagues (if there are any).
Thanks. |

SpritzeDB 2008
Contents Include Player Seasons 1871-2008
Lahman compatable files with some missing info filled in. PLUS: Major League Equivalents of the minor league records of all players who appeared in a minimum of 1 major league game between 1945 and 1974. PLUS: Major League Equivalents of the league records of an assortment of Japanese and Negro league players as well as some career minor league players. PLUS: All seasons lost to injury, war etc have been filled in so whatever year you choose to start with will have a full set of players. PLUS: More players available for 1870's leagues, players rolled backwards either to age 19 or 1871. This makes more pitchers and other players available during the beginning of baseball. PLUS: The same processes used to fill in Gaps and coffee cup player careers included in the neutralized stats db in OOTP9 were used to create this non-neutralized db. This gives you around 1000-1500 players per year. This also means the Retire According to History feature will actually "retire" these players correctly. If you just use the Lahman db they "retire" after their last major league season but some of these "retired" players continued on for another 10 years or more! The true rookie year is also used for all players between 1945 and 1974. These files are meant to replace the batting, fielding, pitching, fieldingof and master CSV Lahman files. For all the rest of the necessary files please use the standard Lahman ones. This db has been tested with every which-a-way semi-historical OOTP9 might be played that I could think of. The only thing to keep in mind is that if you choose to "import complete history" and do not have a very extremely large amount of RAM the db will appear to hang upon league creation. This is inherent with all user modified db's so if you have a favorite db that won't load try skipping the "import complete history" feature. Last edited by Spritze; 01-31-2009 at 02:52 PM. |
