Negro Leagues Roster
Hi all,
The second project, after the Cooperstown file is done, will be a fairly comprehensive Negro Leagues set. It looks like about 20+ teams at this point. I will have the logos, but no uniforms available with the file. The player roster through "O" stands at over 600, not sure the exact number of players per team, but a minimum would be 30. About 80% of the players will be represented from the primary team played for, unfortunately, due to the fact that Negro League players usually had short and well traveled careers many players will be moved to teams to accomodate full rosters. I am in favor of this over throwing in "fringe" players with little or no actual data. I am fortunate to have about every printed reference available for the Negro Leagues, and have relied heavily on the "Biographical History of the Negro Leagues" and "The Negro Leagues Book" published by SABR. I also am well read in the history of the league and hope to bring as much of the flavor (nicknames/pitch types/weighted ratings for stars) to the file. I will update interested parties as soon as possible Thanks |

Looking forward to trying this out. So many great players from the negro leagues. to bad this will be the only way to see them play and beat the major league players.

Coop, Strat-o-matic has just released a Negro League set of cards. Might this be a great way to rate NL players more effectively? They do awesome research. Example, they have Josh Gibsopn as the 2nd greatest hitter of all time. I'd even be willing top pay for the cards, but have no experience rating players.
