Historical Facegen Project Completed

Hey Guys,

We have completed the significant portion of the Historical Facegen Project.
All player from the history of the MLB now have facegens. Here are some details from the Readme.

This version of the database includes
17580 Individual MLB Players, Managers and Hall of Famers*
and 151 Players from the Spritze/Gambo Database

*1052 use the generic image as no photo is available or no usable photo

I will be sending the completed package to Padres site shortly. I recommend for the best results to delete the .fg files you have and use these as many additional Facegens were found and many were updated since the last release.

There are still many others to do including Hall of Famers, owners, coaches 2011 debut players, foreign players and others from the Spritze/Gambo database. And I'm certain many other players can be updated.

Where do we go from here?
At this point I will no longer use the soxxcountry forum for this project.. I and others will still still do some work but at this point everybody is free to work on their own. There will likely still be updates but I will inform others of this through the boards.

I will soon start another thread for updates for this set but for now ENJOY!

Dumb question time...would it work if i cut & pasted the new set over my existing set which would write over and of the same name? I ask since I have all of my self created facgens in the same file and to figure out the 250 or so that i created (celebrities mostly) may take some time.

For the majority of guys it would not be an issue. The problem may come when there are guys who we found pictures of who were "generics" and the updated facegens we did for some guys.

It's impossible to track the changes we made, that's why I recommended starting with a clean slate.

Any idea when these will be available? I'm pretty anxious to use them in my league now that their complete.

They were emailed to Padres so hopefully he gets them up soon.

I know this must have been a ton of work for the facegen team and yourself, and I for one appreciate all the effort that you've put in to make this great game even better. Thank you so much for all of your efforts on this project, and of course all of the others that you're involved in.

I just want to take a moment and tell you all how frickin' awesome this historical FaceGen project is. What a difference it makes to play historical! This is, by far, the best mod for any game I have ever played, and that includes Half-Life, COD, Silent Hunter III or anything. Well done!!!!!!!! and deepest, deepest THANKS!!!!!!

Thanks! It's really appreciated! It's the first project I was a part of and it was a lot of fun to work on this. The project took most of my free time for some months, but if the players enjoy the results the lack of free time is amply compensated.

BTW I did again my FG File for Ross Barnes, since the one I did for the set is without the facial hair. So now he looks like that (except that it's my game picture, so he is 39 years old on this picture).

I get to 99% on my download in add on central and then it says it couldn't download. Thoughts?

The one at add-on central is the old one anyway. Go ahead to Padres site and you'll be fine. The link is in my signature below.

After downloading the file, I should copy and paste into the Historical Facegen Pictures folder? Should I be overwriting whats already in there? Thank!

although u might want to wait for a response from Gambo, i am gonna tell u what he told me at some point. To just use his file new, delete the old 1.
For me and this froze my PC 9 times, I cut & pasted each file of the 4 into 1 folder and the cut & pasted that into my current fg folder. I dod that because i have 2000 Facegens that I have made and didnt feel like accidentally missing 1, had i tried to take those out 1st.

u want to replace the new HFP over any existing in the fg files folder.

ChicagoFan-I found it and replaced the file. The problem is when I try starting a new 2010 Major League Game photos come up instead of the facegens. Before I made the change the facegens were the default pic for each player. How can I do this with the new file so that any league that I create with real players automatically have their facegen? Thanks so much for all your help and sorry for the 20 ques.

Make sure that the game favors facegens vs photos under OOTP preferences.
after i finish a game, or u respond next to this i'll try to post a screenshot.

I do have "search for photofit (facegen) file first" as my option under facegen in preferences.

and they r not showing up? ok i am in the middle of a game right now so i cant check this for myself...go to League Rules/Options....go to Actions? and there might be an option to redo photos/facegen.
