How can I edit the ratings of players?

I'm new to OOTP on my MAC, and I'd like to be able to edit the ratings of players or possibly download roster edits someone else has made for all time new games use? Thanks.

Also is there a way to edit team abbreviations such as the Yankees (from being NYA to NYY) and also the Major Leagues as ML to MLB?

If you go into Commsioner mode, you can go to the team page and edit away.

well I know about that, but can I take the file I make from all those edits and put it somewhere else so those edits are always implemented in case I wanted to start a new franchise?

If you create a new game, before you sim a day, go in and make all the changes/edits you want. Then save game as a template. You will then be able to create a new game from that template with all your changes.

Well I edit: figured out how to save games as quick starts!
