Independent Leagues Quickstart

Here's all the independent leagues... sort of:

Atlantic League
North American League
CAN-AM League
American Association
Frontier League
Pecos League

I modified the CAN-AM league by moving the Winnipeg Goldeneyes from the American Association into the CAN-AM, then I resurrected the Newburgh Nighthawks and the Ottawa Rapids. I also eliminated two teams from the North American League...

I deleted all the players and coaches to reduce the size...

Will do... I still have some things to work out in it. It's not entirely accurate; I took some poetic license in some places like playoffs, schedules and budget.

However it has all the major indys and they are all in an association that has an end of season Independent League tournament.

As it is now I have the date set to Jan 1 2005. Personally, what I'm doing is importing the historical 2005 MLB season with reserve rosters, again, to save space.

I want a high level Major League in there with full modern major league budgets to lure talented developing players away from the indies so it sorta kinda feels like real life: a player chops up the AA league, demands millions of dollars at the end of the season, a MLB team scoops him up.

I also want to see washed up MLB players pop up on the indy rosters at some point.

Still working out the kinks. Still can't figure out the best way to ADD players to the indy roster yet. (i.e. do an inaugural draft with prospects? just fill rosters, or do a free agent draft. So far, the free agents I've created want at least $400,000 to sign) I'll have something to post tonight hopefully...

Hopefully at some point I can turn this into an online league...

It's on YOUSENDIT so it'll only be up for a week. I ask that you download it, kick the tires so to speak, tweak it as best as you can in the spirit of Independent league baseball, then give me your feedback.

Again, there are no players or coaches or a major league in the quickstart to reduce size. I have started the league in 2005, at the peak of Indy leagues and use a historical 2005 MLB to as a top tier league to lure away talented free

Once we perfect it, I'll ask to submit it to OOTPMODS. I'd also love it to be an online league at some point.

Some weird things that I've noticed:

I can't negotiate with free agents. Once I create a bunch and make an offer, they wind up on other teams.

The talent level of the players seems too high, even with the PCMs set to minor league levels.

Also, was thinking of adding another division in the CANAM with defunct New England teams; you'll see what I did in that League so far. I took some poetic license with it

You could save it as a template and merge it with an existing league. Back up before trying it.

i would like to give your quickstart a chance. I think there would be more people who have interest in your quickstart, less postings didn't naturally means that nobody has an interest.

I as an German Baseball Fan likes the possibilities of OOTP, to create MLB Leagues as well as fictional ones, world leagues (also fictional), national baseball leagues ...

I have my favourites (actual i prefer to play my "Weltliga" (world league), but i play many other scenarios as well, for me it should be boring to play only one scenario (league) forever.

Unfortunately my hard drive didn't like so many leagues, because of the disc space

But i'll find my way ...

I contacted someone from another site to see if he could host. It used to be the only good place to get High Heat mods but has declined since High Heats demise. Hosting would be a great way to revitalize that site.
