Updated 2013 MLB Roster Set

Hey guys:

We wanted to give you all a little late season present from the OOTP roster team. Here's an updated, current as of September 1st or so, version of the MLB quickstart rosters that we're releasing as a mod.

Unlike the official MLB quickstart which is frozen at the season's start we've updated all the transactions, at least as of a couple days ago.

We've also added around 700-800 more players to the draft, including everyone who was taken in this years draft, except for a few late round picks who didn't sign, along with all the UDFA's who signed and more.

Plus, there're hundreds more players added to the int complexes. We've also added all the major and minor July 2nd international signings. The better ones are signable in the games int signing period but we put some of the lesser signings straight into their teams complexes.

There are also quite a few ratings updates for guys who are having better or worse years than expected when we originally rated the rosters in the pre-season.

As with the official rosters there are a few things you should know.

First, the 40 man rosters are not correct. The game set them up. I did tweak them a bit to get them more accurate, but didn't take the needed time to get them perfect.

Also, though we made many ratings updates, we didn't get to everyone. So please, don't fill the thread with complaints about guys who are over or under rated, in your opinion. We're still updating the db every day and will have everyone appropriately re-rated in next years game.

Additionally, while we updated the MLB injuries and DLs we didn't do so for the minors. So the milb injuries are mostly the same as in the official rosters from back in April.

I think that's it. Hope you all enjoy this!

Sure do appreciate the 2013 update to Sept.

Question: Is there a way to start the season at Sept 1 without having to
sim up to that point using the current updated rosters.

I setup the SLC and PPirate rosters to Sept 6 but the game still wants to play the game of course at April.

How can I just play in Sept?

Thanks

No, sorry. There's not really any way to do that. You'll have to play the whole season. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

On the bright side, the Pirates got more ratings boosts than anyone. So you should be able to have a pretty good season with them.

Thank you for the quick reply. I'll sim to Sept 6 with no trades allowed or injuries.

But...I'm a Cardinal fan. : )

Sorry, I'm an idiot. Not sure why I assumed you were a Pirates fan. It says St. Louis right on your avatar screen. Go Cardinals

Is there a way to get the players added to the draft as a .CSV file that could be easily pasted into an existing league?

Try exporting the rosters, see if the drafted players show up. I've never tried before, so don't know.

Rename the resulting .txt file to .csv. Then take a look in it. You'll be able to tell since the draft prospects will have uni numbers of 0 and, most importantly, loyalties of 500.

If so then have your existing league generate the same amount of draft prospects as in the quickstart. Then paste the players from the quick start over the players in your league. Be very careful that you do not overwrite the ids of the prospects in your league.

That should do it.

But if the draft prospects don't show up in the exported rosters, then I don't think you'll be able to do it. That's the big question that I don't know the answer to.

Edit the Schedule and make it so season starts today and ends next month but you would have to Update Stats and Standings.

Sorry about that. When you say having trouble loading, what do you mean exactly?

I have to admit, I forgot whether I made this into a quickstart or just posted a savegame and can't check right now

If the file ends in .quick then save it to the OOTP Baseball14 > Data > quickstart_games folder, then load in game by clicking Game > Create Quickstart Game and selecting the file.

If the file ends in .lg, then save it to the OOTP Baseball14 > Data > saved_games folder and load it in game by going to Game > Load Saved Game and selecting the file.

Hope that helps. If I didn't explain well enough, feel free to ask for further help.

Hey if any of you started a new season, can you post some of your results here. I wanna see how certain players are panning out, ie. the guys like Puig, etc.

Gonna post in this thread and see if anyone can help me.

I downloaded this quickstart, opened it, and then exported the coach.csv. I was hoping to update the coaches in my created game with the up to date coaches in this file. I just can't seem to find where you find the coach file in the actual saved game folders (I've searched everywhere)?

Does any of this make sense???

The Pirates

Hi, if you boosted the Pirates players ratings it isn't panning out. All the "good" bats can't buy a hit in my quick league simulation. Cole has an ERA of 19+ in AAA.

As far as the big league and pitching goes A. J. is the only pitcher that can get a win. The rest of the staff has an ERA of 7+. Also Tabata, who isn't a really good player at all is leading the team in every offensive category.

I don't think your roster update is working out too well although I do appreciate the effort.

I'm going to restart and see if it's the game itself that pays no attention to the work you've done.

How long did you play? It sounds like you're only a few games into the season. You will get volatile and non-representative results, both in OOTP and irl over short periods of time.

It's impossible to draw any accurate conclusions from a short period of game play/simulation. Playing just a few games doesn't provide any useful or applicable information.

Indeed doing so will always include extreme results such as those you mention. This is the same as happens in real life. It's why after the first week or two of the season irl you'll see some guys batting .600 and others batting .050, Some with 15.55 ERAs and some with 0.00 ERAs. Any such results mean nothing, and are useless to us in helping us correctly rate the rosters or to you in helping you determine if "your roster update is working out".

Please, sim a full season, or even better several full seasons and then let us know if you're seeing results that are really out of line with real life. That would be much more helpful.

Also, just as a note, the update wasn't intended to get each team to perform exactly as they did in the real season. It was more about updating transactions, adding draft picks and int complex players and boosting and nerfing some individual players who performed much better or worse than they were rated.

I am fairly new to OOTP, and I am, how shall we say, useless with a computer. I am having a heck of a time trying to get this mod up and running. I clicked on the link, clicked on save, but under my OOTP14 file < Data - there is no quick start file...

Then when I download it directly into the quick_start file (which is not held within data file) it says I need to go to Add On central to download/install this mod. But when I go into my Add on Central, it is not appearing??

Any help would be awesome, sorry for being such a useless user!!

Note: It is showing on my download as a .quick file

The link where you save the file should be something like this:

Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 14\data\quickstart_games

If you have it there and are still getting that error message when you try to load it in game, you might try installing the latest patch.

I talked a bit with the guy who left the message you quote via PM and he ended up either re-installing the game, or installing the latest patch (forget which, sorry) and then it worked fine.

So give that a shot and if it still doesn't work for you then check back and I'll see what else I can come up with.
