Is there such a thing as a mod with the best players at each position for every team? For example, the Yankees would hVe DiMaggio-Ruth-Gehrig-Mantle as their core of their lineup, and the Red Sox would have Cy Young-Roger Clemens as a one-two punch (talk about an awesome Yankees-Red Sox rivalry!) Thanks!

there are several Cooperstown quickstarts from the main menu Quickstarts.
Captain Walrus' ATBL is a personal fav although it is outdated and needs some modifications done to it. Updating it is simple using Pxstricket & Gambo;s .PRK files Historical uniforms and adding a few missing players. Look my OOTP 13 version for it on the last page of his thread.

Can you use a '13 mod for a '14 game? Btw, the mod described in the OP is too awesome to put into words (I would comment on the thread, but it's an old thread.)

ATBL would have to be converted to 14. Is that what you were asking?

I am going to convert the original ATBL to 14 and update uniforms and parks myself. i might add a few players like Chris Sale.
I want to do my own version of this with players debuting at their actual age that they played with that team vs age 26 which CW has for his players. One of my many projects I keep putting off.

I'll be back in an hr or 2 with an updated 14 ATBL.

Bo i have done 26 of the 48 teams. Do you want it as is tonight or wait for when i finish it? ( Hopefully will be tomorrow but i can not guarantee that.)
All 26 teams have uniforms and a park. I changed a few logos around to match CW's team names and i changed the Miami Jorneyman to the Marlins but i am using a blue version of their current uniform.

Not perfect but should be fun to play. Check through the League seteup - Rules & Options and make changes. This does not have Reserve Clause since whichever version this was from originally did not have that option. Some parks are not staying in place. Not sure why that is. My PC froze while i was working on this so it may be missing a few parks. If you want accurate parks download Gambo's historical parks from ootpmods.com and add new park and then manually load .prk file. you should be able to find a good park to use in the MLB 12 The Show set or Gambo's early & historical parks.
