Doing another Fictional Quickstart for 15 -- Thoughts Thread (LC)

Hey everyone, this is just a low-content thread for the fictional quickstart project I'm going to start for 2015.

If anyone from OOTPMods or JazzRack sees this, I also believe I have my final Level Playing Field quickstart already completed for this season if either of you are willing to add to your site, or wiki, respectively.

This is just a thoughts thread and musings... I'm contemplating a few different ways to go with the project, or maybe even starting smaller and establishing the same project, but at different base league sizes for whatever league size people want.

I will only mention this... I am NOT planning on making a huge league like I did with "United States Baseball" in 14. At most, I will be going with an MLB-sized league. Other than that, I'm willing to listen to anything folks would like to see out of a fictional quickstart and maybe make it a reality.

My first project is probably going to be a 16-team "modern-lock" of stats settings for modern day baseball with some independent league or defunct league logos (or the states/cities project like last year, undecided.)

My intent this year is most likely just to let a league evolve, but I can build most anything, and of course I will have at least one level of minors, and a full feeder system capable of supporting the differing league sizes.

If you have thoughts, jump on in and lets enjoy this masterpiece together!

My first thought it a "World Baseball Universe"

Obviously, at its highest point, combine MLB along with all the real world leagues, but then create the independent leagues, or national federations such as the British Baseball Federation.

I may start work on a British Baseball Federation first of all, but I'm seriously considering putting the time in for an Earth Universe type project...

I've already decided I'm probably just going to go GM-Only on my historical project, I just can't stay away from fictionals and creating stuph.

I'm not sure if I'd play a British Baseball Federation extensively, but I really do like your World League idea. I'd also love to see you post your Level Playing Field quickstart and any other ideas you come up with. I'm looking forward to it.

I've thought about trying the Universe thing, and then adding a lot of other leagues as well (in addition to seeing if there are easy ways or an easy way to make the feeder leagues as close the real NCAA leagues as possible, for a long as they are stocked with real prospects and make sure it restocks for future drafts accordingly, so there can stats for draft prospect who do not sign and just not so many fake players so quickly in current SIMS that are done even in GM mode, for example).... I will litter my drafts after yr #1 with as many top-prospects and as accurately as I can to keep it fresh as long as possible, or I have tried to when OOTP had less options at our disposal.
Thankfully, some possibilities are literally (or feel, anyway) endless now! I've hardly even delved into OOTP15 yet and probably didn't get enough out of 14, but the games have gotten amazing as time has passed and I just wish I wasn't free more back in the days of version 5 and 6.5 as opposed to now, where just getting online or the internet to stay up is a chore! lol But I would kill for a world type of quickstart like that. It would be very nice... although it would be timely.

Lack of connectivity has made small projects I have attempted really hard to even try to get into let alone finish all of the way, but one idea I had/have and want to try myself (if OOTP does not restrict age this year, something I have been unable to check yet! I only now have kind of figured out posting rules- I think/hope?!) is doing a Pony/Peewee or "youth" baseball league, and experimenting with pitch counts and such. I am unsure how possibly this will be or worth my time, but if it's something I attempt, it would start as a small personal project and then if there was interest I could add teams and make something out of it. My goal is to fool around with different theories to this Tommy John stuff, mess w/ the injury factors and such, and try different pitch counts, game totals for kids at different ages from approx. 12-16 I think, etc.
I think it would be fun, but wouldn't want to start or try to give it a go for even a 8-team league (4/4x 2 'leagues' or divisions I guess) if there is something within the engine that would make it inconclusive from the start..? (I mean, other than the fact no result IS conclusive with these things and any results may be meaningless, I mean more in the sense an engine factor makes the possibility of those in that age range and injuries skew.)

Or if there is an age limit which would kill this aspiration. I love quick starts and would love to try anything, past, present, experimental, or the best being the extremely thorough ideas like your World one-- good luck this year on it if you choose to go the route!
