Realignment/Rescheduling?

We have a modern MLB online league and we want to make a change.

When is the best time in the year to move a team to another division (Houston to the AL West) and insert one of GMO's custom schedules?

Immediately following the World Series? In the new year? Just before Spring Training?

I would make any kind of change like that on the first day of the pre-season. The danger in making a structural change like that between the end of the regular season and the beginning of the pre-season is that the game may make that change retroactive to the recently completed season. So, for instance, if you move Team A from the western division to the eastern division right after the 2011 world series, the game might change the standings for the 2011 regular season to show Team A in the eastern division instead of the western division.

That, at least, was my experience in OOTP10, which is the last time I tried to make that kind of change. I don't know if it has been fixed in OOTP12, but I doubt it.

EDIT: and you can only change the schedule during the pre-season
