Number of games for smaller leagues

For those of you who play leagues with 6-12 teams, how long do you make your season? I know there is no right or wrong answer to this. I'm just wondering what other people do.

For 6 teams I like a 70 game schedule with home/away series of 3 and 4 against each team.

I always try to get as close to 162 as I can. For a 12 team league I'll definitely play 162. If you do two divisions of 6, you can use old national league schedules.

18 intra division 5 teams 90 games
12 inter division 6 teams =72 games

For six team league (assume one division)

32 games against each of the other five gets you to 160
I might try 120 game season (24*5)
or the 90 (18*5)

That's interesting. Any particular reason you prefer 162 games?

I have a 12-team league with only one division, and I've been using a 100-game season. But I have no logical reason for doing so.

One problem I have with smaller leagues playing fewer games per season is trying to decide on Hall of Fame numbers. I want to have players in my Hall of Fame, but with a 6-team league and a 60-70 game season, nobody will ever reach 3,000 hits in a career.

My 6-team league is based on the 6-team league in the Philippines, called Baseball Philippines. The real-life league BP is currently dormant, waiting on a TV sponsor I'm told. I know they did not play a regular league format like what you see in the US, but rather a kind of tournament.
